mcoffeesnob: Clear, aim air from getting trapped under my curtains. It seems all the main floor vents are under windows and with pets, the curtains move around and can trap all the warm air. These are great! i removed the filter because i prefer the clear view, so can't vouch for those, but the covers are fantastic. I bought one last year, and three more this year. Magnets hold these well.

JC: I have a wall unit like you see in hotels in my apartment. This is where I get my heat and air conditioning. This vent helps to push the air into the room and not straight up to the ceiling and this keeps the room cooler/warmer if you are sitting in the room on the couch. I really do like this item and would recommend it if you have this kind of unit.

M Henry: This was my second order. Love the extension capability. Used one under a window seat to deflect heat from going up, and redirect it into the room. The other went to the bath where the existing floor vent caused the towels on the rack above to occasionally blow off the rack. Very quick mailing. Definitely useful!!

girasole: These do what they say - deflect the air from the vents. The are very sturdy and the magnets are strong so they stay in place. I'm not sure about the filter. It's just hard plastic, so my assumption is that it will keep larger particles from being blown into the room, but I don't think it actually 'filters' the air. If needed, a real filter could be installed in the vent, or perhaps even laid on top of the provided plastic filter.
