Mel B.: I used my daughter-in-law's and was so impressed by the quality of the product and the quality of the coffee, that i bought my own. Very happy with this purchase.

Michelle: I've broken so many glass beakers that it was time to upgrade to stainless steel. Mine is an 8 oz. capacity (baby bodum), which I verified with water and a measuring cup. However, the actual coffee yield is LESS than 8 oz. because of the grinds at the bottom taking up space and absorbing water, etc.
When making my coffee, I fill it right to the point where the base of the spout indentation begins, about an inch from the top. There is no marker or line, so you have to eyeball it. A smidgeon higher, and you'll have grinds in your coffee. A solution would be to only fill it to BELOW the spout, but the yield is so small that I go right to the base of the spout and use a small strainer when pouring my coffee. DO NOT try to fill it higher, or else you will have hot water and grinds spray out as you begin to push the plunger down, no matter how gently.
Anyway, I read a lot of reviews and decided to go with the Frieling, despite the high price point. It's a solid press, and the coffee does not have any metal taste, as I've read with other brands. Although I wish it yielded a full 8 oz. of coffee, I'm still quite happy with it.
Amendment: I just finished my coffee and...

Timbo Slims: I now have three years of experience with this Frieling 33oz French Press, and felt it was time to share my experience for others considering this purchase.
I used to make my coffee with a Capresso drip coffee maker, and the Capresso has not been used since the day this Frieling FP arrived on my doorstep. French Press coffee is so much better than the automatic drip machines - but you must be prepared to do a little more work to get it!! Some don't prefer the extra work a press requires (boiling water, timing the brew, pressing, etc) but for me the reward of better coffee in the cup is worth it. Amusingly, I left my Capresso drip machine sitting on the counter for the last three years, always thinking I would use it again... I just put it in the shed today, and asked my wife to bring it to Goodwill this coming week for donation. It still works fine, at least I think it does as I have not used it in a while... but I finally came to the realization I am now a French Press drinker. (So I am a little slow on the uptake.)
I spent a lot of time deciding between Frieling, Bodum and other brands but at the end of the day I am 100% satisfied that I chose the Frieling, and...

M. S. Anderson: We got this press because it is very beautiful and promises to be sturdy. It is really really well made and quite substantial when compared to glass french presses. We got it thinking that there might be slightly more volume and there seems to be a slight amount more volume. We also got this because it is all metal and over the last 15 years we have broken the glass of 8 presses. Maybe we are just klutzy. I had bought a bunch of extra glass parts for bodums in the 1990s for about 8 dollars a piece with free shipping figuring I could just replace the glass. All of those are long gone and the new ones cost about 18-19 each plus shipping which is more extravagant. Our 2 Ikea presses have been destroyed and our last bodum has a chipped spout.
So being that the holidays have arrived, we realized we needed to get another french press and decided to go with one which hopefully won't break and looked very nice.
The Good:
Gorgeous and clean. Seems to be very well made. Very sturdy. Quite heavy.
Beautiful - we only hand wash since it is supposed to be a vaccuum insulated item and we use non-phosphate dishwasher soap which can over time lead to a dingy surface. This press...

Cobo: I have a similarly-sized Williams Sonoma French Press that has worked very well for the past year. I wanted to buy another one to keep at our winter home, but Williams Sonoma doesn't make/offer the same model anymore. This Frieling model looked nearly identical, although it was 50-60% higher-priced than the Williams Sonoma press I bought 10-12 months earlier.
It's OK, but it is lower-quality than the Williams Sonoma-branded press. When disassembling the plunger mechanism to clean the Frieling, you will find the edges of the strainer support discs are sharp and rough. I haven't cut myself, but the Williams Sonoma discs are much smoother to the touch.
The double strainer net seems like a good idea that should catch more particulates, but the results weren't appreciably better than the single-net strainer in my Williams Sonoma unit.
In summary, it's OK, but it's a bit of a let down considering the price was much higher and the quality is actually lower.
