Keevster: These are your basic run of the mill brakes that work great. If you have an expensive bike, best to look somewhere else or you might be dissapointed. But for a cheap kids bike or a beater, these are an inexpensive fix. Shipping was quick too so bike was back on the road in a few days.

Dorian R. MatzenDorian R. Matzen: Bought these for my 10 y/o son's BMX style Mongoose bike. The original brake levers had some rusting and damage from multiple impacts and were difficult to pull on the lever, making braking difficult. My son would hit the brake levers and he just wouldn't stop very quickly.
So I bought these after reviewing. They are good quality.
I'm not the most mechanically inclined but I was able to replace these with about 1 hour of work.
The difficult part was pulling off the front grips because these require that you slide the O-ring (made of metal) down the length of the handle bars. I was worried that if I just pried them fully open, that they would break.
If I had known this, I would have just cut off the old grips and bought some new ones that could slide more easily down the handlebar tube.
Also, The brake levers worked great, however, the breaking action still isn't great, so I'm going to try replacing the brake pads now.
