Amazon Customer: I love this light but it is soooo dim. I've tried other bulbs but it doesn't seem bright enough. It's kind of frustrating since the light and fan are gorgeous. The fan works great on it. If you have a bright room other lights in the room, you won't have a problem. Otherwise, be prepared for a very dim room.

Eliot Press: Better than the picture. Here are some comments about installation and operation.

Installation took an hour. A pro could do it in 20 minutes. The hanging bracket is oversized and must be swapped in to replace most existing brackets, which was easy. The manual says to use washers for this, but none were provided. Remove and set aside the two screws at the bottom of the bracket before mounting the fan.

Position the remote receiver all the way inside the hanging bracket, as far as it will go, taking care not to crimp the antenna and wires. Hold the receiver in place and route all the wires -- including three green or bare grounds and the two (or three) AC wires -- carefully out of the bracket.

If you have three AC wires (plus ground) coming down from the ceiling, you can wire the light to your existing wall switch (connect blue wire to red wire, leaving black wire from remote to light unconnected) -OR- use the remote for the light (leave red wire unconnected), but not both. I confirmed this with Fanimation tech support. If you use your existing wall switch, you will not have a dimmer unless that switch is a dimmer. Using instead the remote might leave you with a...

EnBee: Very nice fan. The light (using the bulbs that come with it) is NOT very bright. My kitchen is quite small -- roughly 12x10 -- and this is far too dim to use alone at night if I want to cook. I need to also turn on the lights over my sink and over the stove. Kind of annoying -- but the fan makes up for it! Since my home was built in 1930, it has some quirks, including the fact that the previous owners don't have the AC duct hooked up to the kitchen, making cooking in the summer pretty rough! This fan changes all that and makes it bearable.

We were originally going to have an electrician put this up, but opted to attempt a DIY after looking over the directions. I noticed some reviewers split the wires so that the light or fan are hardwired separately. My husband and I are newer homeowners and our skill level isn't there yet, so we did the standard install, which means everything is controlled via remote. I'm getting used to that! The fan's three speeds are nice -- the highest level is industrial level intensity. Maybe you'd use it if you filled the kitchen with smoke after burning a potato casserole after forgetting you left the broiler on? Not that I've ever done...

Michael C.: I'm revising my initial rating of 5 stars down to 2 stars. Everything I said about it's looks are true. After using the fan for a while I have found that at times it does not work as designed. There is a flaw in the blade design of the fan which causes it to direct the air out the sides at times which means you do not feel any air from this directed downward. I contacted Fanimation customer report and they said the blade that comes with this nearly fills the space and SOMETIMES creates a vortex which forces the air out the side instead of downward. I thought we were going crazy that sometimes we felt air and sometimes we didn't. I thought I had accidentally hit the reverse switch while cleaning but this is not the case. They have said they will ship me a new blade (from one of their other fan models) that will fix it, however, it does not come in brushed nickel and it will be a dark color. WHAT?? This is an expensive light/fan fixture. It should be brushed nickel. I guess you won't see it much unless you look up but I paid a lot for this and it should be fixed to look as it does now. Also the light is dim even with the brightest LED lights I could find.
