Blazer: If you are wondering why the politics of division, fear and despair are growing in appeal in America, this book has the answers. You might find the ammunition to redirect arguments to the real causes of the problems that are troubling so many of those who've been duped.

J. Boyle: Some people won't like this analysis, but Chomsky gives you all the sources to allow you to check what his arguments are based on. An important book for anyone who believes in democracy.

VideoFan: This book accompanies the documentary by the same name. The book contains more information than is available on the documentary. I ordered both the book and the documentary video as this documentary finally confirmed my original assumptions about the two political parties that now appears to be at war with each other with no winner in sight. It helps explains the reasons for this war and the need to keep and hold power in Washington. And the victims of that war are the citizens of the United States.

My original assumptions from many years of reading and researching why we have the Electoral College rather than voting directly for the President, why one party always supports the corporate elite and the other party always supports the citizens needs over the many years in this country, regardless of the name of the political party, as been confirmed by Chomsky and the documentary, which lays out everything in a logical order.

It enlightened me to ideas I had thought about but never been able to confirm. Each political party changes over time. The corporate elite will always try to hijack the popular political party and use it for their own needs. This happened in our...

Jeffrey Armstrong-Kavindra Rishi: This very concise and important tour de force of US political history and process, is must reading for all participants around the world and especially in the US. It is concise, insightful, and surgically precise for leading the reader to an understanding of why Democracy runs off the rails when it does and for leading us back to whatever participatory role might be available to we who are not the 1%.

J. Alan Bock: The privileged and powerful have never liked democracy because it puts power into the hands of the general population and takes it away from the privileged and powerful. This is the principal of the concentration of wealth and power.

In this book, Noam Chomsky, discusses the ten principles of the concentration of wealth and power in America today and buttresses them with historical documents that has influenced his thinking in this area.

Chomsky points out that, while the American Dream has been under attack in previous eras of American history, there was always the hope that “this will get better.” That’s missing today, he says. A substantial part of the American Dream has been class mobility: “Your born poor. You work hard. You get rich. The idea that it is possible for everyone to get a decent job, buy a home, get a car, and have his children go to school . . .” This no longer exists. It has all collapsed and is never coming back.

Concentration of wealth yields concentration of power. As the cost of elections skyrocket
the political parties are forced ever more deeply into the pockets of corporations. This political power quickly translates...
