DP: These are not like the books when they first came out. There were sometimes 3 or 4 choices to make. These books seem to have lost a lot over the years.

David: Plenty of adventures with multiple endings, great books for early readers.

Beth Stefl: I bought this for a 10 year old boy and he absolutely loved it! I felt good giving it to him because it wasn't just a plastic piece of junk. It's also something that he can read over and over. I was a fan of the series growing up, so it's nice to be able to pass it along.

Christine: Fun adventures for my granddaughters to read and reread to see what would have happened if they made a different choice.
With them having to spend so much time home I wanted to encourage reading and other fun activity books for them. This series was a HUGE hit and will be getting other sets for them to share. Worth every penny spent.

NYMAMA1645: I bought these books for my 8 year old son and he loves them! My 9 year old daughter (who HATES and struggles with reading) picked it up, started reading book #1 and has not stopped! These books are engaging, interactive, and tons of fun for kids. Also my kids love that some pages have a paragraph or 2 instead of pages full of text- it makes the whole process less overwhelming and more enjoyable.
I loved these books as a kid and glad my kids do as well! Highly recommended! Great price too!

The_Phantom: These are books in a series that I read when I was a kid. They are great because they give the reader a bit more involvement with what they are reading, which is key for young readers who are still developing an interest in reading. It was for that reason that I bought this set to give to a friend's son who was struggling with his reading (reading at a 3rd grade level, but the boy is in 6th grade). These books contributed to sparking more interest in reading for him and helped to bring his skill level up to the appropriate level.
UPDATE 7/17/2018
I'm happy to report that my friend's son was able to catch up with his reading at school and my friend thanked me profusely for buying these books for his son. Between these books, the efforts of the parents and the teachers - and of course, the efforts of the son - the son was able to pass the 6th grade. He will start 7th grade in the fall, without issues with his reading level anymore (hopefully).

B**** M*****: My wife and I were discussing book choices for our 7 year old son who reads a little above his grade level and how hard it was to find books that weren't terrible and that he would be interested in. I reminisced about my old Choose Your Own Adventure titles and decided to see if they were still around or if I could find an old copy. I was happy to see that not only are they still around, but the author reworked them in 2005/06 to update the content to be more with the times and therefore relatable to young readers (internet, cell phones, etc).
Amazon Prime (Canada) had them shipped out within the two days and my son dug right into his first book. He loved the concept and enjoys going through the story choosing different paths to see the different outcomes. The reading level is just the right challenge for his reading ability (grade 3/4-ish)and the stories are compelling enough that he will sometimes read over playing a video game when given a choice.
This series is worth the cost given that the books have 10-30 endings and can take a while to read through and they keep the child engaged.

DTriton: Like the other reviewers here I too bought this for a little one (12). So I will try not to repeat what they have already mentioned.
Having had one or two of these as child I was shocked and delighted when I came across them. First things first these books are fantastic for getting children to read more. And by playing along with them you can spend some quality time together and help imrpove their vocabulary at the same time. Some of the books also have some side puzzles that can be solved on the internet which adds an extra dimension that to be honest I probably enjoyed more than they did. For example you might get a link to a site that shows a picture of the haunted house you are in, that picture then reveals clues, which can help guide you down the correct path. These are not essential to do but again do add an extra dimension to the book and at the risk of sounding repetitive are also a fantastic way of getting younger kids or the whole family involved.
I highly recommend these books. Enjoy

Gina D.: Got this as a gift set for a child - friend who doesn't like to read so much.
I remember these from when I was a child. My brother liked them because you can "choose a path to follow" every few pages. It makes kids feel like they're taking part in an ACTIVE adventure... almost like a game. As a result, kids are more willing to sit down with the book and attempt reading.
As a teacher, I've recommended this to so many parents as a means to get children interested in reading. Since reading motivation has a lot to do with confidence, books like this are a bonus because they're active, exciting and use very basic language. Any 4-6 grader should be able to pick these up and enjoy them.

S. King: The idea is still one I think stands the test of time — kids love being in control of the story. Unfortunately, these stories are a little stale for kids today. Still, the nostalgia factor is fun for me. Someone should do some updated versions.
