hotwheels 0185: I had this book as a child and almost 40 years later I still remember several of the stories, mainly The green Ribbon, I'm surprised how often I've talked about that story and this book as an adult haha. If you remember this book from childhood it's definitely worth the couple bucks to own it again.

Nish Thanu: Our 1st grader is a huge fan of the macabre. I was one of those teenagers who eagerly devoured Poe, so I can see where he gets it from. I am in that spree phase of developing and broadening his independent reading. I was delighted to find this book, amongst all his level2/beginner chapter books that we buy/pick up from school for his reading, this one stands out due to it’s unusual genre for this age group. He picked out ‘The bones of Fred Mcfee’ from the school library at Kindergarten last year, and demanded a copy at home too, this book is an addition to it. The stories in this book are harmless, nothing inappropriate for the recommended age. I simply love the ‘Tim Burton’isk illustrations, really sets the ambience for the stories. My son is also good at art, so he too admires the tasteful illustrations. Now growing up in a different part of the world, I did not read this book as a child and hence have no nostalgia for the older version’s illustrations, but parents who had read this themselves may have a fondness for the older illustrations. We love this re-illustrated edition, it’s definitely worth buying just for the illustrations alone. If your child is anything...

Jenny Burner: Creepy stories that I remember from childhood. Perhaps a little too creepy for small children, but older than 7 should be fine.
