NZ Parris: The book came in perfect condition, clean, no pages ripped, etc. I'm in love with the poetry & translation for each poem. 10/10 book.

HistoryPassion: This book came in lovely condition. It also smelled like mint! I am not sure if that was on purpose but I loved that touch. I am very happy to own this copy. Anyone who is a lover of Qabbani knows how rare it is to find his works translated into English. I've found it is easier to find them translated into Italian or Spanish, ans of course in the original form of Arabic. I will cherish this work forever.

I really loved this book, it's a beautiful way to discover the beauty and the passion of arabic poems. The writing in english and arabic create a beautiful image.

Rainer Maria Gassen: This Edition of Nizar Kabbani's Love Poems affords the European reader the chance of understanding and relishing Nizar Kabbani's outstanding command of finding the hidden words necessary for the creation of poetry about love - this ever overpowering mystery.
I am very grateful for being aquainted with Nizar Kabbani's poetry with the help of this invaluable volume.

SKY: Nizar's poetry has already withstood the test of time, and for a reason. He's one of the best love poets ever, and if you're thinking about whether or not to read him, just do it.
Regarding this specific book, it's a great collection of love poems that are better translated that I would have thought possible! I'm a native Arabic speaker, but I speak English better, and I wanted the English just as a reference in case I didn't know an Arabic word. The English poems retain most of the beauty, or rather convey the beauty in a new way.
I'm already planning on gifting this item to introduce a few people to Nizar.
Update: I have no idea why this has doubled in price in the last few yrs. It's still reasonably priced at 16-17 at other bookstores, including Barnes and Noble.

SESturtevant: This is truly a fine selection from the pen of a master poet of the Arabic language.
If you are a fan of poetry, you cannot help but be moved by the fine and artful translations presented here.
If, however you are looking for an appreciation of the original and you are not a native-level speaker, the volume fails to offer what you might hope to find in a bilingual presentation of a master poet. Due to the unfortunate choice to present the poet's original hand without typeset arabic characters to clarify it, this edition is all but useless as a chrestomathy for the beginning or intermediate student.
Qibbani's cramped, idiosyncrhatic poet's hand, unilluminated here, bars the door to what could otherwise have been an elegant journey into the mind of a true master of the language.
Other bilingual editions of poetries have managed to overcome the urge to present the art of the original pen without the benefit of a clear orthography for non-native speakers who are not professional chirographers. This edition, alas, did not.

Danielle ArceoDanielle Arceo: I got this book thinking that this would have his whole poem in piece. This book is bits and pieces of parts of his poems. Which to me throws off a whole lot I’d rather have the poem as a whole. Not one small section. I don’t know why other reviews don’t mention this 🙄
