Tooper: This thing is great. I was extremely skeptical that it would actually be effective in electrocuting flying bugs; however, one of my friends utilized it and thought that it worked very well. I have found that it kills every flying bug on contact, with the exception of large wasps (they are, BTW, the largest flying insect that I have "swatted"). Large wasps are merely stunned to the point that I can step on them, killing them in that manner...which is waaayy more compassionate than spraying them with insecticide. Less mess as well. This swatter works exceptionally well on Deer Flies, which was my impetus for purchasing it.

Jackie Zhang: Bigger bugs will get zapped for sure. When it comes to gnats or smaller insects if they don’t touch the inner wires/net they won’t get zapped. Overall, you have to swat hard and erratically for small insects.

James A. Keenan: I live in the country and around farm animals so I get more than my fair share of small bugs. When I sit on my porch, I always take this little guy out with me and it seems that the bugs are not as interested in bothering me now. When a bug does come near, he ends with a sharp crack and a spark. Very small bugs such as gnats do not get zapped. Small mosquitoes and larger don't stand a chance. I have found that I can hit bugs that land on my body without any issue since the outside metal crosshatch has no voltage. This is one of the most fun and useful outdoor products I have ever purchased.
