Kara's Gammy: Not sure what sheerness means as these are solid and opaque. Bought these for a small thrift store lamp and shabby chic shade. After a little clean up on the shade and lamp, this little gem topped the shade and holds it perfectly and beautifully. I would include a photo but I underestimated the size I needed so it doesn’t show above the shade but works perfectly!

Update: Comment about the size of the finial: For everyone who said "It's too small" I am amazed that no one looked at the size 1" by 1". As I said in my review, it is perfect for the lamp on which it was intended to be used. If you want something larger, consider not buying this as it is small but perfect for the use intended.
