Electronic Pistol Security Box with Quick Access and Stealth Handgun Hanger Safe

P. Sherman: Bought this safe four years ago. Thought I'd share my experience. I did a lot of research, this safe was good design (not easy to pry open as many safes have design flaws and easy to open, there is a good guy at handgunsaferesearch.com who tests them), but there were some complaints about electronics. Mine has operated flawlessly being used daily to open and close 2-4 times per day. I recommend bolting it down so it cannot be taken away. Hope this helps.

JMA: My overall impression of the safe or that it is relatively well-made, it’s heavy gauge steel and it feels quite sturdy and secure. I’ll make two observations which i think are significant if you’re considering buying the safe. First the safe comes packaged in a box with a shipping invoice and nothing else outside of the safe itself. Obviously there’s no battery when they ships so there is nothing powering the keypad. This means the only way to open the safe to insert the battery and get started is by using the hard lockout keys. When I initially opened the packaging I could not find these keys in fact I opened the box inspected the safe inspected the box and threw away the packaging. I then realized that I could not activate the safe so I contacted the company (they were very responsive) and they told me the keys are somewhere in the box. I went and retrieved the packaging that I had thrown away and discovered that the keys are in fact taped inside a void molded into one of the corners of the Styrofoam packing material. This is an extremely important point because if you throw those keys away your safe is useless. I confirmed that the company cannot send you new keys....

Cowboychincs: Overall, I think the manufacturer has failed in making some very easy changes to the design so that it would generally get all 4 & 5 reviews.

The primary changes that MUST be made to make this a great gun vault are:

(1) re-engineer the pistol holder with the rods. Remove the gigantic steel bar, it is not needed. Just use a flat metal back with the rods welded to it and mount it where you can easily slide your Streamlight mounted pistol on the metal rods
(1A) Just FYI... the shelf is a little annoying... you might just throw it away.. as it gets in the way of the pistol being put far enough on the rods to hold the pistol as the shelf hits that trigger guard of the pistol
(2) add an additional red light in the back of the safe cavity need to be added so that you can see where the rods are to place your pistol
(3) At least you did add some insulation to the rods, but it was poorly done and stuck out from the end of the rod by 1/2-1 inches and was bent over... it had to be trimmed so that the pistol could be inserted onto the rod
(4) the mounting holes on the bottom and towards the front of the safe need to me moved back about 1 inch so that you can more...
