Matze P: Ich benutze den ab und an auf dem Boot. Nicht zum Fische suchen, sondern um Kanten zu finden, auf verschiedene neuen Gewässern. Dafür ist er total cool. Benutze ihn in Kombi mit einem Ipad.

Brian: Have used this about a dozen times now. There's a little bit of a learning curve with it but the app is very simple to use. I've used a swivel and 50 pound braid for casting from shore and I can reach further than I can get my lure depending on wind conditions.

This thing works and works well. It's put me on fish and shown me holes I didn't know existed in some waters that I've fished for many years.

It's a bit of a pain to carry two poles if you are just walking a shore line. However using the sonar first to map out an area and find any fish is the best approach. Then cast to them if they are sitting on a ledge, drop off, rock, etc.. Or leave the sonar out there and let it drift while you fish behind it.

I think it's increased my success rate on catches if for nothing else putting more directly on what I'm fishing for.

Alexander SchmitzAlexander Schmitz: I bought this for a long planned lake fishing trip and trolling. I had an older fish finder before which was very basic and had a pixely LCD screen showing "something".
Let me say in short first, the Deeper fish finder is great, and I recommended it already to several people who asked how we did it ....
First of all, let me start with saying that I am not fishing often and rely on a friend for setting up the gear as he is more interested in that, and I am more in the tech toys. We have been to the same lake the previous 2 years, one time shore fishing and it was more time spent on setting up gear because of lost hooks than having lines out in the water. The next year we trolled in a small inflatable and - as we know now - we were not fishing deep enough.
Fast forward to this last Memorial Day weekend, we had a small boat, we had the Deeper PRO+ fish finder, we had 30ft jet divers. We started at 7am on Saturday and trolling with the Deeper PRO+ let me first tell the highlights:
1) Trolling speed is supposed to be around 2mph and the app shows you the speed of the boat based on the GPS of your phone - awesome!
2) I mostly used the app in the wide scanning mode and...

ROCK-ReviewROCK-Review: The media could not be loaded.  I am not new to fishing, but I’ve always thought having a fish finder would make it too easy and considered cheating... But this stuff is seriously addicting. Especially good for ice fishing, you dont end up wasting hours on a hole with no fish in sight. Still works exactly like a classic expensive tracker/finder without the bulkiness.

I bought this Deeper Pro+ mostly because I wanted something portable to carry on my inflatable Intex kayak in the summer. I like to hike in the woods to find perfect quite locations and this fish finder will not add any kind of weight to my backpack.

For ice fishing it works great. The flasheris accurate, as long as the Deeper is attached to some sort of branch to avoid the shaking above the water. A bit confusing to read at first but by simply watching a 3 minutes Youtube How To Read Fish flasher video I understood.

Look at the video I posted on the review (it only shows the graph, I cannot get the flasher on my history)
-The thin yellow line you see bouncing on the bottom is my lure (mini trout magnet)
-The orange at the bottom is the floor, and the green is an indication of...

David: Purchased for boating, not fishing. Plan is to survey uncharted or poorly charted bays/inlets in British Columbia (there are 1000s of them) while we cruise.

As a portable, WIFI enabled sonar, the Deeper Pro+ sonar is excellent. Very accurate.

Bathymetric maps: yes, the sonar and Deeper App very easily scans and creates bathymetric maps. At first very impressed, until I tried to use/review the maps on the spot (usually in the widerness, with zero chance of internet/cell data). Then the problems with the design show up:

Problems:
- NO access to geographic posution (lat/long coordinates) of depth soundings until you can upload to the internet and review on their Lakebook web site. Thus, one can only guess/approximate the location of shallows, rocks etc from the app map. Given that internet (and cell) access is limited to none in British Columbia's coastal wilderness, this is a serious flaw with the system.
- NO abilty to correct depths for tide level. Given that depths can vary up to 6 metres due to tides, one needs to correct to zero tide. (Moreover, given its best to scan at higher tide levels in order to get a greater area scanned, and that the system...

Chris: Based on my research, there is no better castable sonar on the market right now (mid-2018). The ability to use 2 different frequencies, adjust sensitivity, adjust display complexity and color palette, along with all of the features included with the app are top-notch. The integration of GPS into the sonar device is unique at this time. Here are a few of my observations, after about a month of use.

The good:
The battery seems to last longer than advertised. After about 3.5 hrs on one day, the battery was still above 60%. This was using the high frequency sonar, with the GPS turned off (boat-mode). Based on that, I would estimate the usable life of a new unit is more like 7 or 8 hours rather than the advertised 6.
I have not had any trouble connecting to the device, except as noted below. The GPS, once it establishes location after initially turning it on, can re-find itself within 5 seconds after a new cast.
The ability to turn off the fish icons and adjust the sensitivity and color palette make the display very powerful, providing much more information than any of the other castable sonars I have seen.
The integration of GPS is a huge benefit for being able to...
