It's Me, Sven! It's Me, Sven!: One day I was looking at my deadbolt in my living room and thought, "That sort of looks like a face." Then I realized my kid would get a kick out of it if I put eyes on it. Then I started thinking about other random objects I could put eyes on. That was my reason for buying these eyes, and thus far I have only thing I have used them for (i.e., no crafts or anything specific). I looked in advance at the sizes, which are specified in the listing. I knew some would be tiny (because it says so in the listing), but that was no big deal particularly for the price for these 700 pieces.
The adhesive backing is easy to deal with once you get used to it. I have no nails, but I was able to get the backing off pretty easily. The trick is to grab at the edge and just sort of force it. The full backing has not, at this point, come off from the eye itself. Even the tiniest eyes are pretty easy to manipulate.
The adhesive is certainly far from permanent, but it does the job. It does better on some surfaces (e.g., metal) than others (e.g., plastic), although I would be lying if I said I made some sort of serious attempt to experiment. Like I said, I just wanted to put them on random...

S. Ulmet: I've had a few eyes pop apart (before and after gluing), so there's some quality control issues there. I'd say about 1 in 6 have popped apart on me so far, so I'm not thrilled. The paper backing is plastic coated, so it's easy to glue on to pretty much anything. Btw, yes, I'm talking about the self-adhesive backing after removing the paper bit (although I suppose you could put glue on that); I've had some that additional glue would soak through the paper and glue the "pupil" in place.
I really want people to be aware of the box though. It's compartmentalized sleeve box, meaning that the top has sides that extend most of the way down over the bottom part of the box. There's no catch or anything, so you'll probably want some rubber bands to secure the top even though it seems likely to pop up suddenly even with those. The top sleeve is 1/2" wide and the bottom part has a 1/4" wide area that you can grab to hold as you open the box. When you see it, you'll want to open it upside down (cuz the lid is the narrow part, right? NO). If the sleeve setup was reversed, it would be a lot easier to open and this paragraph wouldn't exist. As it is, your fingers have what feels like a...

CarolynnCarolynn: We're all aware of the fact that the news these days can be somewhat exasperating, and perhaps even depressing at times. Let's start a new trend "laughter ambush". Let's follow the example of the other reviewers who started putting googly eyes on things to surprise unsuspecting co-workers, friends and family. I have even become quite adept at putting eyes on things in public places. No harm done, they can easily be pulled off.
Since there may not be time to stand and pull the backing off the eyes, I use velcro dots to get them prepared. (Sold on Amazon). All I have to do is remove one piece of plastic to stick them on things. I use the large eyes for a better effect. I was alone in the post office yesterday and took advantage of the situation when the clerk went to get my package. I put two eyes on his package scanner, and left before he discovered them. I watched from the window and really enjoyed his reaction. Again, the eyes can be easily removed if desired.
Since I am generally considered a conservative, quiet type, no one would suspect that I am the one who pulled the prank. That makes this whole idea even better! Good luck, and have fun!
