FozzyFozzy: Ich habe scheinbar noch ein etwas älteres Model, denn bei mir fehlen die eingenähten Taschen und die Schlaufen an den Enden.

Ich nutze die Hängematte auf Touren oder einfach mal zum entspannen im Garten. Da ich sie hin und wieder im Rucksack mitnehme kommt es mir da auch aufs Gewicht an. Auf meinem Packsack ist dieses mit 700g angebeben.

Die Matte hat sehr lange, dicke Bänder mit denen man sie direkt an einem Baum befestigen kann. Um sie so nachzustellen muss man dann aber jedesmal den Knoten lösen. Darum habe ich die Bänder gekürzt und eine Schlaufe rein gemacht. So kann ich sie mit Karabinern einfach in einen Gurt mit mehreren Laschen einklipsen. Das abgeschnittene Seil hat meine Matte um ganze 280g leichter gemacht. Und durch den eingesparten Platz im Packsack passen da jetzt noch meine Gurtbänder mit rein.
Ein weiterer Vorteil ist das ich so eine Brücke gebaut habe, an der bei Regen das Wasser abgelenkt wird.

Sie hat einen Zwischenboden in den man eine Isomatte rein packen kann um sie von unten etwas zu dämmen. In meinem Test mit einer Luftmatratze war das aber ein ziemlich lauter Spaß. Bei jeder Bewegung raschelt und rutscht es dann. Darum...

Shakey: My first hammock and after researching DD came high in recommendation.

My son has a basic ebay version which he loves but I was looking for a stronger option with the ability to insert a mat to make it more comfortable and reduce the cold from underneath.

The material is very good and feels strong enough to last, it's comfortable and very easy to set up. It has quite along set of straps attached and a simple reef knot keeps it secure around a tree.

I didn't feel the need for a fly sheet version but I would probably get one as an add on one day if I use this more. I only take this out for day hikes, its small enough when wrapped bake into its bag and not a massive weight to worry about.

I would consider the extra light version next time but unsure if this would happen as the build quality looks like I will have this item for many years to come.

The only problem I have as a newbie is finding a safe quiet spot to set up locally.

I love the idea DD hammocks has with this hammock, but it could use several easy modifications. 1) the straps are essentially useless. Unless you are hammocking in perfect weather, you will need to replace the straps. The material absorbs water like a sponge and they have terrible grip to the tree. If you are hammocking in the rain, YOU WILL GET WET. Doesn’t matter how many drip lines you add.
2) another modification I will make is adding little paracord loops to the zippers. Not essential, but certainly would make using the zippers a little easier if you are sleeping inside.
Overall, it’s a decent hammock, but for the price, I’m a bit disappointed that I have to make these type of modifications (especially the straps) to make it usable.

*suggestion....a cool modification for future designs would be to make the zipper double sided and offer liners (fleece/flannel, etc) for cooler weather hammocking

Stephen French: I was introduced to the wonderful world of hammock camping over ten years ago by my brother and a friend. We used to "basha" camp on the floor on our motorcycle expeditions but never seemed to find a comfortable or flat area to sleep on. He purchased a DD camping hammock and we shortly followed and have never looked back since. Back then i was on a budget and purchased the DD camping hammock as it was cheap and did not wish to make an expensive mistake if i did not like hammock camping. It must be good as i have not bothered upgrading and it is still doing the job over ten years later! I don,t think the price has gone up much either. I am six foot four and weigh 15 stones and there is enough room to stretch out and i do not feel hemmed in. There are longer and wider hammocks available but i have not felt the need to go to an XL version. I started off using the supplied suspension cord and just wrapping it around the trees a couple of times and securing with a shoe lace knot. The standard cordage will get you going but it does fray easily and you do feel a little bit of stretch when the full weight is in it. 99177381768176: This is a very strong, very comfortable piece of kit. I've been camping in Europe with it and have had absolutely no issues whatsoever. A few points to go by-

Comfort- Brilliant. It's easy to adjust to, even though I sleep on my side I find that by tying it quite tightly it can support me comfortably in the foetal position. Obviously a little extra insulation is required beneath you, but a cheap £5 silver mat is more than enough for this. Don't worry about falling out either, it'd be very difficult. I roll around a lot whilst sleeping and am not concerned by it, the way the fabric rises either side when your weight is placed in the middle keeps you very secure. IT is vastly more comfortable than sleeping on the ground.
Versatility- You can sleep in places you would never have been comfortable with a set up that remains on the ground. Steep slopes, very rocky terrain, wet terrain, marshy terrain, tree roots and holes- they're suddenly a non-issue. Obviously you need 2 supports either end but the straps are very long, you'd be surprised by where you can get away with.
