J. Walsh: I was hopeful about this product based on the photographs and positive reviews. Unfortunately, while it looks cute, this thing is a cheap-o-roma. It feels very flimsy and thin everywhere. Also, the design is odd in that things like removing the lid from the carafe or pouring water into the reservoir are awkward and challenging. Worse still, unless the carafe is in perfect alignment with the filter basket, it overflows. For me, this happens about every 1 out of 5 times. Because the design is odd and the parts are flimsy, placing the carafe perfectly under the filter basket is a fiddly process, especially when barely awake. Quite frustrating to walk into the kitchen hoping for a hot cup of coffee only to find that you have a mess to clean up before starting to make your coffee all over again.

Important: Some of the reviews claim that the metal carafe keeps the coffee warm for hours, which is blatantly untrue. The carafe is not insulated at all. It’s made from a very thin piece of metal which causes the coffee to cool much faster than glass. The coffee is room temperature 10 minutes after the maker automatically turns off. KathyBee: Product is great. I love the one I have had for a year. Ordered another as a gift. After many delays, product shipping was suspended, said I could reorder. The reordered pot would be $10.00 more. Cheap trick after many promises of shipment is coming. I feel tricked and duped, not to mention how much time was wasted trying to talk to Customer Service. What a joke.
Poor customer service, poor treatment of a frequent customer. Caution is recommended.

It makes great coffee; it comes out hot, very hot, which is good.
On the other hand, it keeps you guessing how much water you have put into the Carafe. Stainless-Steel is good to keep the coffee hot and tasty but is not see-though. It is difficult to guess the water you placed in the coffeemaker. It does not have a small window to check for the amount of water. The almost invisible marker is not that great.
The product is energy hungry. It uses a lot of electricity to make and to keep hot a good cup of coffee.
Don't get me wrong. I like it a lot, spite its inconveniences. Think about the poor alternatives.

Walker75: The Cuisinart DCC-450BK 4-Cup Coffeemaker makes a good cup of coffee. It is simple to use. Just put a #2 cone filter in the basket, add in the desired amount of coffee and pour in the desired amount of water. This is advertised as a 4 cup coffee maker....that is four 5 ounce cups, even though a "cup" is actually 8 ounces. The water tank holds about 23 to 24 ounces of water, so if you are careful, you can probably get about 22 to 23 ounces of coffee, taking into consideration the coffee grounds and filter will retain some of the water. I am satisfied with the amount of coffee this makes.

The manual states that all plastic parts that come into contact with water are BPA free. The coffee pot itself is stainless steel with plastic.

If you are hearing impaired, this coffee maker could be frustrating. There is nothing to indicate the coffee maker has finished brewing, no light, no beeping, no signal. The stainless steel pot is just that....stainless steel. You cannot see how much coffee is in the pot. The only way to tell if it has finished brewing is to listen to it. When it stops huffing and puffing, and the trickling noise has stopped, it has finished brewing. Or, just...
