Amazon Customer: What a wonderful book. Some of the designs are complicated but they have some easy ones too. For the person who wants to make a showpiece, this is the book for you.

A Southern Yankee: What a terrific book. The author shows you how to make some lovely and creative pieces of edible art. Not only are there step-by-step instructions, there are also templates that you can copy in the back of the book. The designs fire your imagination where after duplicationg the pies shown in the book, you can go off and explore new possibilities on your own.
I can't wait to try out freeze dried powdered blueberries to color dough. There are so many available flavors & colors like mulberry, strawberry, even beets! Recently, I've seen recipes turning sliced root vegetables & fruit into roses for pies & tarts. Why not use these freeze dried powdered fruits & vege's to add color to tint & color these and even pastry cut-outs instead of gel food colorings. It's worth a shot, wish me luck. I'm hoping to add color and flavor to potato roses, etc...

Peggy: Karen shares tips and methods to help others transform their pies from okay to wow. What I most appreciate about the book is its clarity (great writing). Karen provides workarounds for bakers who may not have the all the tools she uses to create her works of art. For example, I don't own a "borderless pastry lifter" but I do have a pizza peel. Karen suggested using it instead. Works like a charm. The basic pie dough recipe included in the book has become my go-to dough recipe. The dough is easy to make, easy to work with -- and it's delicious!
