Ohio_BoomerOhio_Boomer: I needed a hat to wear hiking to keep the sun from bleaching out my hair and protect my face and neck, and this fit the bill perfectly. It is very lightweight and would pack well, but if someone is looking for a structured hat, this isn’t it. Those type of hats have more squared off caps and don’t pack well . My head is 22” around, so I did have to use the drawstring to tighten it slightly. I think this might have made the brim wave a bit, but I feel that helps it look less Pollyanna-ish than if it were perfectly flat. I never like the way I look in hats, but felt this one wasn’t too bad! I like the chin strap as it gives it that explorer type look.
Edit: It was a little hot this morning during a hot and humid hike, so I tightened the cord to make it stand up enough over my head to be able to actually utilize the vents, as it sat too low so the vents were blocked. Last pic shows the hat after I did that. Looks wise, I might need a smaller hat, but functionally it performed great in a drizzle, keeping my hair dry.
