I was very disappointed almost immediately. It felt super cheap out of the box, we rinsed it off and tried it. The wire didn’t cut the eggs as much as it mushed them apart. We threw it in the dishwasher because the egg was everywhere and the cheap coating came off over all the dishes.
I strongly recommend an OXO or Kitchen Aid. Not this.

James C Young:
This is probably the 5th one of these egg slicing devices that I have owned and all were different models and materials. I have had a couple that were very small and hard to use so I chunked them after awhile or the steel wire would eventually break. I rarely put anything in the dishwasher that’s not glass or really cheap. I wash all of my knives, pots and pans, and utensils like my All Clad utensils by hand as if they are expensive, I don’t want to ruin them. I also was my collection of William & Sonoma spatulas by hand as well. Wooden knives shouldn’t be washed in the dishwasher because the heat can and will break the handles or cause them to split. Then if you accidentally wash a wooden handle knife you should rub it down with food grade mineral oil. Plastic handle knives will warp and break easily after being washed in the dishwasher and most gadgets should be hand washed. Essentially you get the idea, only plates, saucers, plastic storage containers, and eating utensils go into the dishwasher.
Unfortunately, I was in a rush and I decided to top rack wash this and it did exactly what I thought it would, it has a blackish color like soot that...

Amazon Customer:
This egg slicer is very sturdy and appears to be a quality that will last a long time.
My only criticism is that it’s difficult to clean because at each end of the wires there exists a recess that collects debris - egg yolks, for example. I have to use a toothbrush to clean out these pockets thoroughly. Just be aware of this situation...

Deanna: This egg slicer is well constructed. It is heavy duty and designed so that the cutting wires go all the through the base. I have two other egg slicers, one made of plastic and one that is stainless steel and neither one makes a complete cut like this one does. This is by far the best slicer I have owned. The only disadvantage is the fact that cast aluminum is not supposed to be cleaned using the dishwasher. Most people don't know that dishwasher detergents cause discoloration to cast aluminum so make sure to clean by hand using soapy water. Other than that I am very pleased and probably will buy another one just to have a spare.
