Magdalene: I love the work of this author especially for little boys but something went wrong with this book in the physical creation of it. The text is printed sideways on the pages. Two of the pages were uncut. I had to take a knife to them to separate them. I'm disappointed because this was supposed to be a birthday gift for my grandson and I can't give it to him in the condition it is in.

CS: This author has a great imagination and writes a very engaging story especially for children that like to ‘invent’ things. Creative story that is fun to read and keep childrens attention for read aloud or read alone. Love the bright colorful illustrations and how unique the story line is. Great book and the other books by same author are equally wonderful.

Sarah Lojczyc: This is a go to book for me to give to a birthday child of age 4. It’s fairly text heavy for a 3 year old, so in my opinion they might not sit through it unless they a car enthusiast. The language is fantastic & it is so creative. A great STEM book & So great for building vocabulary beyond what they typically hear (at least I don’t talk with such descriptive language!)
I don’t have a grasp on the upper age this might appeal to. I started reading it to my son at age 3 & it was a favourite then. I suspect it will be read on repeat for quite some time.

Wrangler: If deciding between the two - go for the other book. We bought this because we had the "If I built a house", but we still prefer to read the other one. It's okay, but not quite as fun.
