I got these for safety to prevent my curious - explorer toddler from running outside undetected as they figured out how to unlock the standard deadbolts/door locks. Worth every penny because they function as expected, quality design, and most of all - peace of mind!! I also love that they're not super bulky like the kind you see in hotels. LJP: Had a locksmith come to my residence some months back to install one of these for our front door (paid $ 179) After searching Amazon I located the EXACT same item! I installed them on my back door and the hallway door leading to the garage. Simple to install

JV: I got this product to have an additional layer of security on a house back door. Installation was simple, I did use an power drill and a power screwdriver, and I'd recommend the power tools to make it simpler, but can be done with patience and a normal screwdriver as well.
The lock helps two purposes for me: it keeps the door locked, as intended, and also, when the door is open, you can place the lock in "closed position" and then the door will not lock behind you; this particular door has one of those in door knob twist locks that will not let you open from outside if is not turned, but it will allow you to open from the inside without turning it, so if you open and forget to turn it you can easily get locked outside.
To unlock you just slide sideways and pull, and to lock you just turn it, and it slides into place by itself.
When I installed it I used the 1" screws that came with the lock, there are some videos showing the same lock installed with 3" screws so it reaches deeper into the door frame, but in the case of my door it was fine, solid and enough.

giovanna: So one of my doors jiggles when you just try to see the security of door (while locked we shook knob and entire door jiggles) once we put this bolt on I'm telling you it no longer juggled at all and that was relief! I have kids and just moved in a new area. Getting a new door and installing is not cheap! Can't afford it at the moment so looked up security for door and came across this one. Extremely happy with this purchase! Putting it all on entrance doors which I have 4! My 10 year old can open which I don't mind and need them to be able to. My 4 year old obviously was a security for him to not open door and get out while we may not be looking. Purchase this it's great for extra security.

Kiera: Recently started living alone and had this installed. A friend tried forcing this open with it unlocked/latched. Could not force it open. Instantly makes you feel more secure when alone.
