Lady L: Great resolution and light gathering for bird watching. Wide angle to check surrounding area while keeping your target in sight. Easy to focus for both near and far. Great purchase.

Paul Morgan: I bought these Carson vp series 10x42’s 18 months ago when Amazon were selling them at ridiculously low prices, i thought they looked to good to miss so along with the 10x42 i also purchased all the other models in the series and eventually i only ended up keeping this 10x42 which i personally found to be the best in the series. Someone on Amazon USA favourably compared these with the Nikon monarch 5 10x42 and couldn’t separate them optically…I’ve constantly been very impressed with these and have compared them with vortex, Bushnell, vanguard and opticron and couldn’t find anything in any of those that was better optically. These Carson are very well put together, reassuringly solidly built and the focus wheel moves smoothly and is nicely weighted, focusing is not geared too fast nor too slow… perfect. Field of view is a very generous 6.3 and close focus an excellent two metres with a perfectly round image at that close distance. My only criticism of these is the eye relief being only 15mm which if you are wearing glasses may restrict your viewing. Thoroughly recommend these Carson 10x42’s and even at the current prices they are still good value...

Richard Garza: It really is a lot of binocular for the price, and best of all, each and every function designed into it works as it ought to.
So, they are not light, nor are any binoculars worth mentioning.
Glass is heavy, quality glass even more so, and these Carson 8x25 VP,s also have a great rubber coating making them feel rock solid in the hand.
The ease of focusing is made so with "stand out dials" that are soft, smooth, and fast.
One can lidderly adjust both dials with the one hand holding them.
The coatings work very well in normal and low light, making for a very clear view. (I was surprised how well in low light!)

Lee A Dawson: I really like these binoculars, except for one thing, and that is that the eye relief is too short for those who wear glasses. I am speaking in terms of being able to see the entire field of view. This is a shame, because the overall field of view, without glasses, is wonderful. I still really enjoy using these, and they are a good value, other than the issue with insufficient eye relief. Despite this one shortcoming, I often choose these over my many other binoculars, while heading down the walking trail. I consider these to be a good all around performer for the price range. I really like the size, shape, and weight, and the strap is comfortable. The focus knob is smooth, and focus is quick and easy to attain, including the right ocular. I am not much of a low power fan, except in low light conditions, so I consider the 10X to be an excellent compromise overall.

William D.: I did a lot of research for all similarly price binoculars and decided on Carson for the good reviews and solid life-time warranty, even though this was not a widely known brand to me. I made the right decision – the binoculars are well designed, easy to adjust with very clear vision and no glare. I bought these mainly for use in a tour of the rainforests in Peru (Manu). Our guide asked to see my binoculars and was really impressed. When I told him how much I paid for them and that I got them in 2 days in the states, he was astonished. So much so, he offered to buy them from me. He had a 10 year old pair of a popular brand and said that he’s been examining binoculars others have had on the tours and had yet to be impressed enough to abandon his ‘true and trusted’ binoculars for new ones – until he saw these. He told me that he’s looked through every popular brand some at prices way higher than these. He’d not heard of Carson, but could not believe that you could have such quality for such a price. In Peru, you don’t get much variety and the shipping costs and other factors elevates the prices. While I did not want to do a cash sale with him, we...

David: My use for these binoculars is for Stargazing. I have several but there was a need for a waterproof and lighter 12x50. I have a Celestron 12x60 but it will not handle the cold pacific north west. I tried these out on a 3/4 moon lit night. I was delighted that the stars/milky way were bright. I was able to focus the stars to points of light, so the view looked sharp. Since the moon was up I was able to test on a bright light. A very slight aura around the moon; however the moon was sharp and clear. The moon does not interest me in lest than a 12x mag. They were light enough and the view was wide enough to easily find things in the sky. The binoculars had a solid feel. Since I recline in a chair to look at the stars a 12x is very easy to use without a tripod. I do not like using a tripod unless it is my Celestron 20x80 that gives dynamic views of the Moon. The price was perfect. I did not want to spend over 175 so I was happy at this price. I heard what the experts say is the best stargazing binoculars. I am in love with my 8x42. Very wide angle, sharp and bright. However the moon is unremarkable and on moon lit nights it does not bring out the...

Bryon, at Ottawa: I bought these 12 x 50 for stargazing. They are very easy to focus. The diopter adjustment is very stiff so it stays set with no need for a lock feature. The eye width is also very stiff and stays set. Very clear bright image to the very edge. They are "THE" best binoculars that I have ever owned. Clearer than my 8 x 42 Nikon Monarch 3 that I leave by a window for bird watching. Much easier to focus than my 10 x 42 Redfield Rebels that I use for hunting and they are only slightly bigger/heavier. They are so easy to focus and so bright and so clear they may become my new every thing binoculars. Although the Monarch 3s and the Redfied Rebels are good (both more expensive), it is hard to use either of them after seeing thru these. Very impressed...
