serratia: This is a fantastic denim jacket as far as fit, fabric, quality of stitching and pockets. However, as others have mentioned, the smell (can’t call it a scent because that implies a pleasant sensation) is atrocious. I washed it once with baking soda and then again with vinegar. Neither of these attempts even touched the extent of the smell. But I really wanted this jacket so…I put it in a plastic garbage bag with several cups of baking soda. I tied the bag off and let it sit for 3 days. I gave the bag a good shake several times a day to redistribute the powder. Finally, today I machine washed it again with the powder that was in the bag and vinegar. I rinsed well. Yay!! The odor is *almost* gone. I’m thinking that if I can hold out for sunny weather I can hang it outside to be neutralized with some UV. Thankfully, the jacket is solidly built so has held up well with all of this abuse. For now I can wear it outside so the smell won’t offend anybody. No meetings, no restaurants, just yard work and walking the dogs. But this jacket is worth the trouble IMO.

Vicky: I liked this jacket but it was a bit big. I would size down if you like your jackets more fitted or order your normal size if you want a thin sweater underneath. As other reviewers have mentioned, this jacket comes with a HORRIBLE perfumed smell. I thought there was no way that the smell could be there over a year after other reviewers commented on it, but there it was. It smelled like a church basement after 50 old ladies gathered for a perfume-sampling party. I didn’t try to wash it because others said the smell wouldn’t come out. Returned.

C Rae D: After reading other reviews on this jacket, I hesitated to purchase but couldn't find anything else I liked as much. Thankfully this arrived scent free for me and the perfect fit. I got a sz m. Normally fit a sz 10. Perfect length. Very happy with my purchase.

Kellybells: After reading the reviews, I was expecting this JJ to be very smelly, and it totally was not an issue, has a little perfume smell, but I love this jean jacket, just what I was looking for, and wow, great price. I am long waisted, and it was true to size, I would easily give this a 5/5 well done, love this jacket and would totally buy it again!

Doctehorse: I was looking for a classic western wear jacket, I have ordered 3 different but still similar brands and styles to pick one. This is my choice, I love the fit, square at the shoulders, different pockets, the tabs on the side give you little waste line. Very Feminine look. I have ordered XL, i am 5'6" and weigh 185.
BUT, what is wrong with that perfumed dye SMELL???? it is so strong, you can smell it in my whole closet.
First I thought it is not that unpleasant, but now kind of overpowers everything. I have not washed it yet, some other reviewers are stating that the laundry does not help. I don't know if I will send it back and order from different retailer or not (someone suggested that as well).

cath: This is the best Jean jacket I have owned. Proper pockets!! You can actually use the spacious exterior pockets, as well as having two large interior pockets. Length is perfect, most denim jackets are cropped to begin with and are way too short for my long torso. Very small amount of stretch, still feels like regular denim but just enough give to have unrestricted movement & can comfortably layer over a sweater. Jacket is functional, while keeping a nice tailored/feminine silhouette & isn't boxy. Very happy with this purchase, & will be wearing this jacket for decades. All other denim jackets with unusable pockets are thrift store bound.

Stephen Wilcox: After accidentally leaving my favorite denim jacket on an airplane, never to be seen or heard from again, I began my quest for the best possible replacement. I have a rather long torso and prefer my denim jacket to hit at hip, so it's not easy to find that without it being too big and boxy. After 3 purchases and returns of other brands, I found this cute Carhartt jacket. I read the reviews and everyone raved about the quality and fit, but about half a dozen mentioned the odd perfume-y smell. Having a severe chemical sensitivity, I would never order a clothing item where this is mentioned in a review, but this jacket seemed perfect for me in every other way - hits the hip, adjustable tab at the waist for a slightly tailored fit, and great quality. I put the stink issue out of the equation, as I have had to deal with that before when an item unexpectedly arrived doused in a sickening fragrance. I soak the garment in baking soda and water for days and then launder in the machine several times and have always gotten the odor out sufficiently. I ordered the jacket, feeling like I found exactly what I was looking for. When I opened the package, I about fell over. Seriously, it smelled...

Terri Lee Royea: I ordered the medium. My bust is 36B/C. I wear a size 10 in Dickie's. I need shoulder room and this gives it to me. Very comfortable. I love all the details. The side snaps to adjust the waist is great. I love how the back dips lower to cover that area for bending over, squatting. The pockets are perfect - inside pockets for phone or keys. Outside pockets perfectly placed. I love the contrasting fabric on the inside pockets and the turn back cuffs. My arms are longer, so I need the cuffs turned down, but I appreciate the added touch. I can see me wearing this a long, long time. Very pleased!
