Brew Delicious Coffee with the FORLIFE 827 Coffee Press - Clear & Black

©ooper©ooper: I had great hope for this press, but it’s probably going back. Poor quality control on top of poor design. If you look at almost every French press, you know they all look basically the same. You have a flexible (sort of) screen that’s pressed down by a plunger. The screen is bent up around the edges and held against the wall of the vessel by the screen trying to flatten out because it’s slightly wider at the bend than the vessel. There’s also a spring which one assumes is pressing against the screen, helping eliminate gaps between the screen edge and vessel walls.

The problem is, the screen isn’t that flexible and the very edge of it may be the only thing preventing grounds from sneaking by. All it takes is pressing a dent along the edge to cause it to fail. And that spring around the edge is certainly not strong enough to keep coffee grounds no larger than a coarse grain of sand from getting by. One would think someone would design a press with a silicone gasket around the screen to easily stop anything larger tan the screens fineness from getting into your coffee. Although maybe Aeropress is basically using that principle.

Andrew: First of all, forget about the rubber bottom, get rid of it because it probably will not stay on. I threw mine away, and just use a kitchen tile or hot matt to sit the glass pitcher on. It could possible as stated elsewhere cause you to mishandle it, slipping, falling or breaking. But the rubber matt is not an issue with me at all, and I quickly discarded it.

What is cool about this press, and the reason I bought it, was by picking up on a tip from someone else who had a glass press. The tip is with a glass press, you can eliminate losing a lot of heat in the transfer when you directly heat your water in the press inside the microwave, instead of heating water inside a pyrex pitcher and then pouring that water into a cold press.

With a glass press, you can take it out of the microwave hot, and then drop you tea into it without losing any heat. Also for cold tea, after a few minutes when it has steeped and cooled down a bit, you can put it into the frig or freezer and cool it down quickly. Then finally use the steel part of the press to extract the tea, or extract the hot tea first to a cup and then put that into the frig. This is the coolest thing about it, that you...

Krystal Bella: 16 oz ForLife French Press: I had "Given Up" on Coffee... I live in a VERY rural area of the country; where there are no Fresh Brew Coffee Shops; so for the past 5 years; I've had to make my own at home to start the day. I tried all the other methods; Drip Coffee Makers x 2; "Keurig" type; even Instant; and NONE; No Matter how I made it; had Any Full Bodied Flavor. I had a French Press [FP] in the past; and was hesitant to try one of these again; because all I remembered were the yukko Coffee Dregs at the Bottom of my Cup; which I hated. So, for about a Month; I read about EVERY French Press offered on Amazon; All the Reviews & Product Info. I knew that I would need one where I could SEE the strength of the brew; so that ruled out any Stainless Steel Beaker types; and, I HATE the Taste of Metal Contact to Foods/Liquids in my mouth. Anyway, a Borosilicate Glass Beaker was a "Must". And; this was the ONLY manufacturer that I found that added the "Silicon Boot" on the bottom of the beaker that offers a "Cushion" to prevent cracks/breaking...
