chris: My GSD knew how to take this off. He figured it out over time... about 6 months.

L: I have a large, very strong dog. No matter how often you handle her paws or try to do anything to her, she just cannot be desensitized. She panics easily. (She had a rough start as a baby and developing her confidence has been a consistent struggle.) we normally use peanut butter or treats as a distraction when cutting her nails. I decided that it would be best to put myself at total ease because dogs are dogs and, sometimes, the can behave in ways we wouldn’t anticipate in response to perceived threats. I got her the muzzle for that reason. It worked like a charm BUT - even better -it actually also turned out to be a way to keep her consistent distracted with the positive reward. Licking peanut butter off of the front of the muzzle was perfect. It put me at ease, too. It was the best nail trim we’ve ever had. Highly recommend it, even if it makes your dog look like Hannibal Lector.

Nick MitchellNick Mitchell: The measurements were off but I contacted the company and they sent me the right size (one up) for free, fast shipping. No problem at all. My dog took a bit to get used to it but great now. I no longer have to pick up piles of chewed up wood.

leah g: Very well made and would work on a dog with a longer snout. I read that wasn't good for short snouted dogs but had to try. My bull dog is a butt nipper and avid barker! Her nose is too short, she started hyperventilating. My own fault! I would definetly recommend this muzzle!

TalmadgeTalmadge: Everytime we go for the dog's yearly, she swears she'll take them all out, just let her at them. Until I bought this, I would have to put her in one of their old school muzzles, which is effective but I imagine smells like a thousand dogs' fears and doesn't allow for much panting room (we live in Florida). I bought this about a week before her most recent appointment. I referred to it as her "treat dispenser" and started the positive association immediately. After a couple of days, she was asking for it, nudging it on the shelf, like she does her harness for a walk, and she put her nose right into it, to reach her treat. I gradually increased the amount of time holding it to her face before strapping her in about day 5, and leaving it for just a few seconds. She immediately tried to take it off, (lying down with two paws), and I knew if she got it off, she'd know she could and it would be all over, but I gave her the "leave it", "sit", and "wait" commands (which she already knows) followed immediately by a "good job" and a treat and then removing it right after her treat. We did then this multiple times a day for a couple of days in small bursts, gradually increasing the time. I...

Judy JanzenJudy Janzen: I needed a muzzle for my dog that he couldn’t get off. I had a cloth one that I had bought before and he shredded it in about five minutes. He worked very hard to get it off, so I needed one that he could not get off. I only need it for him when we are out working with the calves as he likes to grab the tails and rip the ends off the tails. When I got the muzzle he allowed me to put it on no problem. He still just puts his nose up and lets me put it on now after about three weeks of use. He doesn’t really like it when it’s on, he tries to get it off but can’t and he drags his nose through the snow so it does get some ice buildup but it doesn’t affect his breathing. He does have a little patch of hair rubbed off on top of his nose because he does try to fight it a bit. He only wears it two hours at the most. Just while I’m out doing chores. He still tries to grab tails but he can’t!! Yay!! The best thing I got!

lacigrl: I have a 50 lb. 1 year old Husky/Samoyed/GSD mix. He hasn't worn a muzzle before this, and hates having things put on his neck or head. He eats things (toxic plants, food, trash) he shouldn't when on a walk though, and can sometimes be a little reactive/nippy when nervous, so I knew I needed to introduce a muzzle for safety when meeting new friends, taking him to dog-friendly stores where he tries to eat trash, and when I'm trying to groom him. He also has allergies that cause him to lick himself raw (even past the cone of shame!), so I figured this could be helpful while allowing those skin spots to heal.

I ordered up a size to allow for some pant room, but that makes the strap is slightly too long. I'll need to do some custom adjustment because of that, but otherwise, this seemed to work well size-wise. He pawed at it once or twice when I paused and he was able to realize it was on, but as long as I kept moving and gave him occasional treats, he tolerates it. I also did a lot of conditioning for a week before I ever strapped it on his head, dispensing treats through the muzzle and giving a "put your nose in" command. It's helpful that there's room to give treats through...

Tuck's Mom: I bought this muzzle to aid in training my rescue dog. It's flexible and breathable and apparently comfortable because he has not tried to take it off even once. It's also been a great aid in training. He gets nervous around people and other dogs and this has helped make him calmer and less distracted and cut down on the fear aggression that he was showing. I was afraid that a soft muzzle with velcro would not stay in place and they do not allow dogs to pant properly. This one is perfect for my needs. I measured him before buying per the guide, and I ordered a large but then returned it for an X-large which fits perfectly, and I would suggest going up a size if the measurements are borderline. This is for dogs with a normal muzzle length and will not be good for dogs with short or pushed in muzzles like pugs or bull dogs. I am very glad I made this purchase as it is helpful to both of us on our daily walks. He does not wear it in the house at all because he feels secure at home and does not display aggression toward anyone when not out walking on the leash.

Amazon Customer: As a former Police K-9 Unit handler and trainer I've had the opportunity to use a variety of muzzles on the German Shepherd's that we primarily worked with. These were very strong and highly motivated dogs that would initially do everything in their power to dislodge or rip off the muzzle. Lightly constructed and poorly designed muzzles were quickly destroyed or torn off. We relied on specially designed muzzles by a custom manufacturer that specialized in equipment that was purpose built for the most demanding Police K-9 applications. Those muzzles would cost nearly $200 dollars and were well worth it when we needed to rely on them to be "slip proof" and stay in place to keep our unprotected training "quarry" safe when working officer protection sequences. When I searched for a properly designed and constructed muzzle for the German Shepherd I'm currently working with in protection training I found this Mayerzon "Basket" muzzle to be Best of Breed!

It is properly designed to be robust enough for the demanding work intended while still allowing ample room for the dog to breath and pant, which is an absolute necessity. The strength of the straps and the quick attach and...
