Steven: Really enjoyed this book and it’s given me a lot to think about. Asks some really important questions and sets out a clear way to answer your calling.
Only downside is the heavy Christian (Bible) undertone which is more personal to Bob and his mission than a reader who may have other beliefs.

"Half Time" was timely for me, it confirmed for me how relevant my niche was!

Amazon Customer: A book I read over a year ago and I am still digesting the facts. I will encourage everyone who wants to live a life of impact and significance to read this, especially anyone from 30 years and above.

J. B. Groot: Many self-help books are written to satisfy the ego of the writer: to promote their business, company or selves. Not bad or wrong, simply not valuable for a reader. Truth nuggets can be found in most successful people’s lives, but publishing a book to share them with the world is more often than not a business card rather than a well-written, meaningful and rich offering. Half Time is thankfully the latter.
Notwithstanding a glowing review I do have one issue with the book…the subtitle. “Moving from Success to Significance” suggests the reader’s first half, was not significant, a notion I personally disagree with. This may be my own interpretation and bias, so don’t let that hinder you from reading, and benefitting, from a marvelous book. For those seeking, Buford’s nuggets will be savored, drawn out over weeks and months, processing life’s changes and how to maximize the future for ourselves and those around us.
Any book at its core expresses the perspectives of one individual, even when shaped by the influence of mentors, teams and life experiences surrounding them. Buford’s Christianity is foundational to his perspective, but he does not indulge...

Hugh Davies: Great and inspiring book which has really got me thinking and challenged. The author is clearly an extremely successful businessman and this can make some of his stories about other top business people hard to relate to. Also there is a baseball analogy on about page 35 which is impenetrable to non Americans (although to be fair no worse than non- Anglophiles trying to understand the lbw law in cricket!), I would urge all who struggle with these elements to stick with it - this book has a lot to say and is well worth the read.

Tom Sales: This is another in the series of books that I've been reading recently about retiring. It was recommended by a friend who thought I'd like it, with the caveat that he knows "I'm not as religious as he is so try to get past that as you read it." The book is quite different from the others I've reviewed ... it assumes readers have the financial resources they need to retire so they can start shifting to more part-time work or to delegating daily tasks to others. Buford continues to address that objection that one can move to the second half without being wealthy, but it is an assumption many readers may find difficult to get past.
The structure of the book is interesting in that it addresses issues related to the first half (of one's life) in the first part, to halftime when the person decides to make a change in part two, and to the second half in part three. Each of the chapters within those parts is relatively short and looks at those stages almost in an essay format. Buford mentioned that he struggled to complete the book. I got the feeling that he may have worked on each of those essays individually over time and then compiled them into the finished format as the book...

Geoff Ables: Half Time isn't for everyone. But if you're considering making a change in your life - from focusing on business to focusing on others - then Half Time may be a great place to help you think more about this. Although the books is written from the perspective of someone who has been extremely successful, the idea of Half Time can apply to anyone. The general idea that the book encourages is that you pause and take stock of your life at your "half time", a consider changing your focus from working on personal success to working on enduring significance. It particularly resonates with those business people who don't feel that employing others, serving clients, paying taxes, giving charitably and raising families is the appropriate measure of significance for them (or perhaps, for those who have achieved enough of this and wish to give back in other areas). I've been amazed at the thousands of individuals who have changed their lives as a result of this book and have invested their time and treasure into building better communities around the world. Thank goodness there is still enough freedom left in the world that these individuals can amass wealth that they can then give back so...

Chavez78: Even before reading, this, I had been processing all around my current life and the talents and blessings I have to give to the world. This book cemented the need to spend more time testing the waters and stirred some passions I know that have been laid on my heart. Whether Christian or not I recommend everyone reading this and gaining insight on a that inner voice I believe we all hear at times.
