Charles Floyd Rhodes: This is not really in an A to Z format, but it is still a look it up, thus that is probably why they call it an encyclopedia.
It has the basic gang, the Mystery Machine, select guest stars such as Batman and Robin, a section on top 100 eats before getting into the villains. The villains are in categories that start with Aliens & Bots, Beasts & Monsters, etc and ending with witches and wizards and vampires and zombies, possibly because zombies starts with z, but if vampires is put before zombies, why not put them before w? And what is Wolfman doing in the vampires and zombies section?
The high rating does not mean that this is "perfect," "complete" and "definitive," it does not have all of the guest stars who were in The New Scooby Doo Movies and Scooby Doo and Guess Who? and it looks like the villains are from the classic, if you will, series, and even so a number are not in here, I could not find the pod knock offs from a 1980s series, for example, and I could not find the cthulu knock offs either, and I looked all over for them. Mr. Oizo: Sorprendente a muchos niveles, formato grande, excelentes ilustraciones y mucha, mucha información. E. Elliot: I bought this for my son when he was 3 1/2 and had recently fallen in love with Scooby Doo. His favorite part of every episode was the villain. This book entertained him for many long car rides. Back then he’d sit and look through the pictures and tell me all of the villains names and whatever he remembered about each one. It was a favorite pick for us to read to him at bedtime too. Three years later he’s now 6 and it’s still one of his favorites. He’s seen every Scooby episode, many more than once, and can read this book on his own now. He still likes to bring it in the car and it’s been read cover to cover numerous times. It’s a must have for any Scooby Doo fan, especially if you or your little one is partial to the villains!

Ed D: I wouldn't call this an Encyclopedia. If you were to flip through it in the store, you'd see it's really more of a character guide. I know Scooby-Doo Character Guide doesn't quite roll off the tongue. Maybe Scooby-Doo Case Files? Do kids even know what an encyclopedia is?

It's broken down into several sections. Each of the gang and the Mystery Machine get their own entries. Then there's a few pages on family (including a Doo family tree!) and some notable friends/guest stars. Then it gets into the really good stuff: the villains! The cover claims to contain every bad guy from the classic series. I'm no Scooby-phile so I can't verify that, but considering each of the 93 pages has multiple entries, I'm going to take their word for it.

Every once in awhile, one of the gang will pop up in a bubble to provide a tidbit related to the entry. Shaggy tells jokes, Velma provides case breaking clues, Daphne give facts, Fred talks about the location, and Scooby naturally talks about snacks. For better or worse, the book also includes The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo. On one hand, you have Scarppy-Doo but on the other you have Vincent Van Ghoul who was voiced by Vincent Price. I can...
