And I just wanted to mention that sometimes bugs hide in used electronics, so if you are bringing old monitors back to life like I did, take precautions. You don't want to bring bed bugs into your house (I hear that this is something that actually traumatizes people).

And yes a used monitor can be as cheap as $10 in a junk store, you may need to talk the price down. Use a tiny bit of WD-40 is someone put a paper sticker on the LCD panel and soap does not do the job.

Aleksander Malinowski: I use many repurposed Dell monitors at my work office and many refurbished Dell monitors at my home office. The problem I ad is that they do not have HDMI inputs. While I can use display ports it is not always a viable solution. I ended up fixing permanently one of these converters to the DVI input and hence problem was solved. Now I can use four monitors in custom configurations some horizontal, and some portrait as I need which cannot be easily done to my liking by using just two 4K monitors. Besides, repurposing old but otherwise good monitors is also environmentally friendly and cost-efficient.

Andres Perez: I used to connect a second monitor to my pc, which only has one HDMI output and one DVI output. The adapter let me use both monitors with HDMI cables.
