Alli: It works; not much else to say other than Nintendo does not manufacture WiiMotes for the Nintendo Wii anymore so if you need one, you'll have to buy third party anyway.
Also, some folks here don't know how to sync a WiiMote:
Next to the battery slot on the WiiMote, there is a small red button (covered by the battery case). With the Wii on, press this button. All four blue lights on the WiiMote should be blinking.
Then, press the red sync button on the front of the Wii. The middle slot next to the disc drive (where the memory card goes) has a small flap that opens up. The sync button is here.
This should designate your WiiMote to the Wii as one of the players.
