Teranne N. Mccomas: What makes this book different is I believe Sally’s firm conviction and commitment to the truth that all children are created uniquely in the image of God and with a great purpose to fulfill. Unlike many other really great books on bringing life into education and about our freedom to educate our own children, in Awaking Wonder we learn that the goal of the Clarkson’s was not to raise up kids who loved learning, but rather “to nurture whole children, healthy in heart, mind, soul, and strength.” Of course this also included a love for learning, but is entirely more foundational. She says, “We must imagine what it really means to be crafted in the image of God. He is excellent, holy, righteous, and He gives everlasting sacrificial love; He is infinite in knowledge, a creative artist of sublime measure. When we ponder His attributes, we see the potential for us and for our children to become excellent, exceptional, magnificent in growing to reflect His life through ours by actively embodying the character of Christ through our actions. In a culture that exudes mediocrity at every level, we need to push beyond, to live into what our minds can imagine about the greatness of...

Heather Fehr: This book is so needed for today! So many people are dissatisfied with the current state of schools, and unsure of how to give their children a good education. I myself have homeschooled on and off over the last 10 years, but we never found the joy in our homeschool. I know this book is exactly what I needed to read those 10 years ago. Sally Clarkson has such sound biblical advice and encouragement, and her four successful children are proof of her methods. I would even recommend this book for parents who are not planning to home educate their children at all. As parents, we are our children's teachers, even if we send them to public school.

Esther: Sally and her husband Clay have raised four children who excel as writers, composers, actors, teachers, speakers and overall thoughtful Christians. One may imagine they grew up attending the best schools, but one would be wrong. Or perhaps one would be right; the best school for them was their home school. Not only were they home schooled, but the educational methods Sally and Clay adopted were sometimes even a bit radical among fellow homeschool parents. Yet, the outcome of such nonconformist methods is now measurable for all to observe. Mind you, these parents did not take the path they choose in order to produce the successful adults that are now spread across the world; no, their goals went beyond mere good citizens, and they have achieved what they had desired.
The principles contained in this treasure of a book are applicable to all parents, regardless of their chosen educational paths, because Sally will "baptize" your mind to imagine a new way of educating your children, even if you adopt her ideas while continuing the school path you are currently on. The secret lies in first pursuing your own growth and awakening your own wonder, and then from the overflow of your...

Kindle Customer: I just purchased this kindle book and although I haven't read it yet, I've been listening to Sally's podcasts about the book and I can't wait to dig in. Sally is a wealth of knowledge on homeschool and motherhood and she's also such an encouragement gem. I know this book will be a winner!

Nic MM: A woman after my own heart with a love for learning, for true education and to pass that on to the next generation. This book has inspired and helped me to coin some things I know and do but couldn't term, or explain the need, importance. This book really was a delight to read, the principles are not only for homeschoolers or Christians but the principles can be implemented in any home to any children.
I am inspired and have already bought my next 2 Clarkson books to read
My only dislike is that I finished it too quickly.
Recommended for any parent who wants their Child/ren to be well rounded individuals with a good sense of morals, value, discipline, service and more.
