The good features of this pump: strong pump action, snug fittings, no backflow. But on the negative side, there is no reason why this pump shouldn't have a standard-length hose, which would be more than twice as long as this one. It's not a standard circumference, so you can't just substitute another hose. In an actual emergency, which is the stated purpose of this pump, I can't think of too many things more alarming than discovering that the hose is too short to gain clearance. I guess this is just another case of manufacturers skimping on raw materials to preserve price points. But I did find that a section of 3/4 inch PVC pipe fit snugly into the discharge end of the hose to give me the length I needed. That end of the hose is well reinforced, so the pipe is unlikely to poke a hole in the hose. Since the pump-to-hose fitting is snug, not requiring hand strength to hold it together, the pump handled the additional length without requiring too much exertion for this 65-year old woman. I weighted the end of the pipe to hold it in place while I worked. I suppose adding an elbow joint might also help.

Bought this to use at the cottage to get water from the lake in winter as our water lines are not winterized.. We auger a hole in the ice and use this to fill 18L water cooler jugs. Pump works perfect for this application. Just take it easy on the thing and don’t slam it to the ends when pumping. If you abuse anything plastic in the cold, it will most likely break. This is holding up just fine. Highly recommended.

The bilge pump on my boat is just not reliable. Nothing worse then having a bilge full of water that won't pump out. This pump is super easy to use and moves a tons of water in the short amount of time. Also doesn't take up a lot of storage space.

This product sucks...really well. Not only perfect for moving water between a 6-gal “can” and our RV, but it really came in handy when I had to suck out water from our broken clothes washer! I’ve tried drill pumps and cheap battery pumps for our RV and none have very good suction capability...this bilge pump was the perfect solution for refilling our RV “fresh water”.
