Scott MlynekScott Mlynek: This tool is a great invention, but the flaw is in the materials used for the leverage side. The cast iron is brittle. The tool broke on my first use disassembling a pen. I have a $37.00 assembler that works great. I needed a disassembler to repair customer purchased pens for whatever reason. I would buy it again if you change the material from cast iron to steel. After looking at other reviews, I can see this has happened to others as well. Please fix the material flaw. The Seller/Amazon refunded my return immediately. I am very satisfied with that. I am updating this review because the tool is great for assembly and it would work better than the current tool I use regarding the spring loaded Teflon/plastic end. Also the easy to adjust notched system is great. I am thinking of purchasing it again and machining a new part for the leverage mechanism.

Hudson Jalopy: Don't listen to those fake reviews or people who are mouth breathers who torque it and then complain when something breaks... this tool works well, does what it says, and has functioned flawlessly on my pen assemblies with many different types of wood. I haven't had to disassemble yet but that was the reason I got this and it has saved me from doing so. Great investment and stress reducer.

Mullanphy Lane: A decade after selling off all my pen turning/making equipment I bought the
PSI Woodworking PENPRESSXL Assembly & Disassembly Pen Press to replace the sold one. This tool is head and shoulders above the previous model. Quality is excellent, but its usefulness makes it one tool no kit pen turner should be without.
The spring loaded anvil on a removable base is a fantastic idea making the disassembly setup a breeze. Using this tool is easy for both assembling pens/pencils and taking them apart when a repair is needed.
Not just a handy tool, but a money-saving one, to boot.

Michel Paquet: love the pen press specially the dissambly feature. allowed me to properly align the pen parts and as well dissamble a few of the pens i made when i first started turning pens.

Martin R: I've been making pens for a few years and have simply used the vice on my workbench to assemble my pens. Disassembling pens was always difficult until I purchased this unit. It now take only a few minutes to complete disassemble a pen to replace parts or refinish it.

E. N. M.: I got a lathe a year ago and have made close to a hundred pens so far. Didn’t think I needed a pen press until a started seeing some imperfections from my previous process. Pens have stepped up a notch with this. Some kits can get wonky if you don’t push them in straight by hand. This solves that. Easy to use and easy to push in just a little while fine tuning the depth of the pen point.
Disassembly, the main reason I bought this one over others. Works great. I was able to disassemble a slimline pro gel pen, which is basically impossible by hand. I cut a small length of the rubber tube and have used it half a dozen times. I expect it will last until I loose it. Any generic padding should work fine. I may get fancy and use a neoprene sleeve in the future for added protection. It can still marr a wood blank, so it can be difficult on some kits to clamp it down *only just enough*.
