M: I grew up with these books; they're probably what made me decide I was never doing horror ever again lol. But hubby, who loves scaring himself, hadn't. He's looking forward to the movie. :)

Family of Four: Our 9-year-old loves reading this series, however our 6-year-old finds them to be too weird/scary, so I would recommend for ages 8+.

Ashley Lippe: These are the classic "scary" stories from my childhood in the late 80's early nineties. They aren't REALLY scary but the illustrations are totally creepy and wonderful. I bought the original paperback edition because I don't care for the newer edition's tamed down illustrations. My five year old loves creepy things and this is a favorite. I highly recommend this collection for young kids who want something spooky but not Stephen King spooky. Do yourself a favor and buy a used copy of the old edition before they become scarce. The drawings are what really sells it because the stories themselves are fun but pretty tame.
