Liz Mayer: We did our research and settled on the AlorAire HD90. We needed a beast to keep our crawlspace dry.

Installation was a breeze. We set it on concrete blocks, leveled it, and drained it to the sump pit. We set it at 55 degrees with current humidity reading almost 90. Unfortunately, the humidistat was not reading correctly. After several days and carefully measuring water output, it still read 83.

So I emailed Sam at AlorAire Customer Support. With her help, we did some testing, replaced the humidistat, and determined the dehu needed to go back to the factory. Fortunately, I saved all packing materials!

A couple of days after they received my defective unit, a new one was on the way to me.

The unit is the beast we needed. While it was there, my humidity level was lowered considerably. My insulation dried out, the dirt floor dried out, and everything looked great. I expect the new unit, which I have tested prior to installation, will do the same.

Customer service from AlorAire was top notch - professional , prompt, and responsive. I couldn’t have asked for more.

GeeGeeGeeGee: The water removal capacity and built in pump are a plus, as is the cleanable air filter. But it would be nice if the fan speed were adjustable and if there were a tank that could be used in lieu of pumping to a drain.

RockNRoll: NC house with crawl space. Noticed water under the crawl space air conditioner. Looked at insulation around air conditioner vents positioned near the outside walls and it was soaked. Hardwood staples rusting. Husband is contractor and plumber. We YouTubed videos to fix - bought thick foam to close up vents and insulated door under crawl space. We had plastic already on dirt floor.
Ordered this unit without pump as they say that’s what goes bad. It drains with gravity.
First unit UPS damaged and never delivered and gave us instant refund.
Second unit was damaged but I didn’t refuse it immediately. They are fragile and have Freon in them and after paying $1,008 with $150 coupon - we were afraid to keep it. Tried to take back to UPS store but they couldn’t print a return label because it was in computer to pick it up because it was heavy— what a headache that caused because now I had two return labels and took over a month to get Amazon to refund this time. Plus had to spend whole day waiting for UPS to come and get it. HUGE pain and deal. So refuse it if damaged and be at home for delivery.
Had working one week - so we don’t know how long it will last. Keeps...

votnvotn: This unit replaces a SaniDry CX that ran out of refrigerant after 4 years. Folks should know that most crawlspace dehumidifiers do not have service ports for refrigerant, making them throw away items. I also have a 2,000 sq. ft. crawlspace, and most commercial grade dehumidifiers that are serviceable in terms of refrigerant handle around 1,300 sq. ft. Wanting to get at least 5 years from my next $1,000 + disposable dehumidifier, I went with the HDi90, and, after reading some other customer comments, purchased the Assurion warranty for backup. I like that the HDi90 is much more serviceable than the SaniDry, certainly easier to take apart for cleaning and maintenance.

The unit did not come with a manual, but I was prepared for that. I am using AlorAir's website community forum to ask questions about the unit, and so far responses have been OK, but slow. The picture shows I have it installed in the corner, draining into the nearby sump pit (we live on the edge of a flood plain). The exhaust pointed to the open part of the crawlspace. I purchased the remote control, which is mounted outside the crawlspace door in the garage. I gave the remote 4 stars b/c it is overpriced and...
