My personal preference is to clean my guns after 4-450 rounds What I liked about it was that its strictly .22 that's all ranges. we shoot .22 daily clean your weapon early and often. If your leaving it over lengthy periods of time its not a bad practice to take it apart and lube or clean the piece in use.

PnutKarPnutKar: The Ruger name adds some cachet, but Bill might be a little displeased. Overall, a nice package with metal jags (most important). Had a big ugly sticker on the box lid - WD and some scrubbing took care of that. The overall length of the assembled rod is too short for a rifle, but it's fine for a 10/22, or other carbines. The first image shows the handle location with the jag just at the end of the barrel of my Model 68. Second image is the missing extra length needed. Hard to gauge "durability" since it's brand new. I'd sure like to get an extra rod to make the kit truly complete. Until then , call it a Carbine and Revolver/Pistol Kit.

JayTronics: I was apprehensive about this purchase due to some of the negative reviews but am completely satisfied with it. I don't know why others are having difficulties with the threaded ends of the cleaning rods and attachments. Tha handle, extention rods (including the swivel rod), and all attachments except the smallest (.204) bore brush and swab are the same thread. The .204 attachments use a smaller thread and need the included adapter to connect to the rods. I used this kit on a .22 rifle and pistol. It worked perfectly on both. The kit includes two different size cleaning patches. The smaller ones are for cleaning the bores of smaller caliber weapons and the large ones for general cleaning/bore cleaning larger calibers. This cleaning kit is extremely well made and well worth the money.

Lee A. Johnson: Don't really know what the negative reviews are about, unless there was some poor quality control for a batch of them. The kit I ordered is perfect. Adapter for the smaller threaded swab and brush is included and indeed works. The rod itself does not swivel at the handle, but they have made a swivel end on one of the rods, typically the rod you connect the brush or swab, etc. too. Already put this kit to use with my revolvers, worked great. Also, Allen Co. makes this kit, not Ruger, any issues with the kit should be relayed to Allen.

Order it if you need another 22 cleaning kit in your arsenal, or gift it to someone who needs one.
