Lovesdogs: I bought this to read to my second graders. My asian students chimed in with their traditions at home and my non-asian, including myself learned a lot. Nicely written and pretty pictures.

Meridith: My 7 year old loved it and we did as well - was a great way to explore culture and enjoy celebrating the Lunar New Year. The art is also fabulous as well as the learning we all gained!

Elletserod: 4.5 stars! Beautiful illustrations and adequate coverage of traditions for Lunar New Year! Great for kids to learn about the most important festival in Chinese culture. My little one especially loves the pages with the dragon dance and nian monster.

The only thing that needs revision is the description of the Nian monster - okay, it's all myths but the book says a head of a bull and a body of an ox.... that sounds like the same species to me Lol... which I don't think it's any close to the folk tales we used to hear (which should be something like lion with horns). By the way, the illustration of Nian does look "right", so if the wording can be revised to match, then it would be perfect.

Anna: Lovely, colourful pictures throughout. This book teaches young readers about the lunar new year celebrations, in a short and exciting story.

NYC Gal Out☆: This is a really cute book for Chinese children. It's simple and the illustrations are really cute, but it's not one of those baby books with only one short sentence per page. This has enough in it for a bedtime story, with colorful illustrations and a simplified version of the lunar new year. The board book makes it durable for toddlers to manhandle. It also has little tidbits of Chinese culture in the story.
