Cammie Belisama: What I really love about this autobiography is Flea’s absolute love and knowledge of music. He is anti music snob and embraces all of the musical talent that’s come through the world. What a rare and interesting glimpse into the depth of a person who had anything but a boring life.

Miklos Kremser: I am a RHCP fan. I read Anthony's book, and it was good. Then I decided to read Flea's book - and it did not disappoint. Very honest and original - with great details about his soul, his feelings, his thoughts and the events of his life. I feel like I understand Flea so much more now. I've always admired this daredevil crazy bass player on the stage. Now I admire him as a fantastic human. Excellent book!

propertim: The most joyful account - even of some dark, heavy experiences - I’ve read in a long time. Or ever? Beautifully written. Enticing. Hard to put down, easy to jump back into. I already miss it. Part Two please? 🖤✨

Miss H L Smith: I read this last year and by the time I was two chapters in I went and bought three more copies for friends I knew would love it. I’ve just ordered two more from here for two more people. His writing is poetic, in that it’s lyrical and musical and full of rhythm and so easy to read. The short chapters are great for minds that are overwhelmed or people who struggle to read. But most of all it’s his big bright heart that envelopes you. He’s in love with life, even the hardest parts of it, and it’s infectious to spend time with that kind of open, vulnerable, generous spirit. I recommend it to everyone, but especially those having a hard time. It’s just a beautiful hug of a book.

T. Satchwell: If you bought or are buying this book with the idea of getting to the extraordinary bass playing abilities of Flea...this is just a heads up.....its based around his early childhood, very misspent youth and tales of druggery and a little petty crime.
From a musical point of view.....his first real exposure to music was through Jazz and his double bass playing and very unstable step dad. So I get perhaps that he was never going to approach ..lets call it "Rock Music" from the usual angle. He also blew trumpet...and again that is a different place to approach the bass from...(although I did dabble with the same instrument before I got to the bass. I was too lazy and unengaged with this to do much)
So most of the rest of the book revolves around his dabbling with narcotics, with some teenage angst and girl crushes. He clearly had a "Non standard" ..Experimental Jazz upbringing, and of course this has a big effect on him, and in a way that is quite sad and very harrowing.
Despite several statements that he wasn't addicted and wasn't an addict.....in my eyes...it seems that he was..ok maybe not to one particular narcotic, and he was quite damning of heroin about heroin, but...
