Amazon Customer: I knew hardly anything about Bitcoin before I read this. Now I have enough knowledge to start buying Bitcoin if I want to!

Corinna Crofts: Book was full off information and would help beginners an idea in what to do for buying selling bitcoin. Unfortunately I was expecting a bit more detail in how to buy and sell.

TimRich: This is now the third book by Matthew Kratter that I've read, and his ability to distil these concepts right down for the layman is superb.

I bought this book because, as you might have noticed, the Internet has a lot to say about Bitcoin. It takes a lot to decider what is just opinion and what is fact. Kratter, as always, brings CLARITY. Yes, he is clearly quite excited about Bitcoin, but he explains his reasoning - quite sound reasoning. He's not coming at it from the approach of a novice who happened to make millions because of a well timed Bitcoin spike, he approaches it from the perspective of an investor / trader with many years experience in the market - which he is.

He's a trusted source, and I'm glad to have read this book. I feel I know far more now than I did last week prior to getting this book. It may be a short book, as many of his books are, but it's spot on. All information, no hyperbole.

If you're new to Bitcoin, I highly recommend this book.

Big Game James: A Beginner's Guide To Bitcoin is a nice introduction to Bitcoin from the perspective of a true believer in its infallibility and ultimate worth. As with most books written by Matthew Kratter, the writing is crisp, straightforward, and fairly thorough.

The book covers price targets, myths, how to buy and store it, and whether it is actually money. Matthew also provides what he calls "The 10 Commandments of Bitcoin" which covers his Bitcoin investment strategy and how to handle security issues. I would like to have seen more coverage on exactly how it was created out of thin air, how it was added to exchanges, and who "controls" it. Granted, Matthew views Bitcoin as "decentralized" and therefore not suject to anyone's control, but he doesn't provide the "why" and "how."

Matthew also provides a rather weak argument against the concern that the government might someday restrict or prohibit its use, saying that the government wouldn't do that because the major Bitcoiners who mostly hold Bitcoin in "cold storage" would simply flee the country and find a more Bitcoin-friendly country. In my view, some Bitcoiners would in fact flee, but not all, or even most. Therefore the...

JohannaE: It's not easy finding a reliable source of information on bitcoin. Give this book a go and you won't be disappointed.

The author here does a great job explaining in a very clear and easy to follow way what bitcoin is, why it's so revolutionary and where it's heading (that's really important). He debunks all the myths you might have heard from so-called "financial experts" in the media and also gives very practical advice on how to buy bitcoin in an efficient and safe way. For me, that's exactly what I needed to form my own opinion.

I started taking an interest in stock markets and cryptos in March 2020 (like a lot of new investors, after the crash!) and have found Matthew Kratter's books, online courses and Youtube channel (check out "Trade University " - it's free and Matt's got a great presenting style) simply the best resource out there to learn about these topics but also develop my critical thinking. Beyond this particular book, I really recommend you check these if you're interested in taking a step further.

The small caveat I would say about this book is that the tone can be quite critical at times (particularly towards institutions) which might be...

David Dube: I’ve read all of Matt’s books and I’ve subscribed to his Trader University. I’ve been pleased with the information for a number of reasons, and this book is no exception. Like his other books and courses, this book summarizes the issue in a very understandable way. Also, the book is filled with lots of specific facts, as well as specific instructions and advice. And, again, this is the case with rest of his books and courses.

I didn’t give it a Four-Or-Five-Star rating, though, for a number of reasons.

Criticism #1:

According to the book:
Inflation and money-printing are seen as financial tyranny, or as a a way to “steal” from a nation’s citizens.(Paraphrase)

My educated response:
-This is a misinterpretation of some of the basics of Macroeconomics. It’s not as simple as “printing money”. There are strict rules and regulations that are followed when it comes to Monetary and Fiscal policy. The activities involved with these policies are done to dampen the visciousness of boom/bust cycles, which inevitably occur in a market economy. The activities either dampen the cycles, or prevent them from occurring altogether. It might be...
