Jodean Schmiederer: The lid just sort of sits on top with a very flimsy "slot" for it to "hinge" onto the base. Although you CAN put a padlock on the front, I'm not sure why you would do that given how easy it would be to unhinge the back of the top and open it that way. Otherwise it was easy to put together and seems to be fairly weather proof. I'll try to ziptie the top to provide a bit more stability when opening and closing it.

Kristina: This is better than the strap “hinges” but it doesn’t stay up as easily as the actual hydraulic style ones. But the cabinet is large, the water stays out, and it’s attractive. Easy to assemble and it will last.
