Amazon Customer: We ordered this for our niece. It is an introduction to the kitchen and cooking. It's basically a fun cookbook for kids with the food science explained. I think this has been updated because a 2017 review says it has some outdated recipes that require 35 mm film cans and ours does not. 2018 reviews mention misprints in the page numbers and the one we ordered does not have that issue either. We also ordered STEAM Lab and Outdoor Science and our 11 year old niece is super excited to try the experiments.

H M Bond: A great book. Lots of ideas for simple experiments with readily available materials. Educational and fun - even for adults!

Kati Andresen: Fun & interesting book! The experiments are simple enough for my 5 year olds to do, (with some assistance), but still interesting enough that older kids want to do them too. I teach a kitchen science camp & these fit right in with what I do. Several kids loved going through the book & picking out more experiments to try at home. I loved seeing them get so excited about science as they flipped pages. Definitely a good book to have for any little scientist!

Brooke: My daughter loves cooking and science, this book is the perfect blend of these two. With clear pictures and instructions she is able to read and follow along at 8 years old.

Claudia: My husband purchased this for our 5 year old. There are a few "recipes" that are easy enough and require minimal supplies, but the majority tend to involve lots of supplies that we just don't have or have yet to acquire with a 5 and 2 year old. This is more appropriate for primary to secondary school age kids as it involves Maximum parent participation and guidance for any kids younger than that. Clearly my husband didn't check the age recommendation of 8-12. I'd say that is about right on, but am knocking one star because it seems to require very many supplies that we wouldn't have around the house otherwise.

Tollie: This is a book with some great ideas for primary age and probably a few, slightly older curious minded children have done before. Very fun book to read with children. Great for homeschoolers or classroom.

AJTW: I homeschool my children. My 6 year has been begging to do science experiments. I was browsing Amazon and ran across Kitchen Science Lab for Kids and bought it because the reviews were good. Even though we have not completed the first experiment, I am impressed with the book for several reasons. 1. The book is divided into units, with a few experiments per unit. I like this because it allows you, the parent, to review the same concept a few weeks in row. 2. Each unit begins with a simple explanation, which is helpful for explaining the unit to your child. 3. Each experiment in the book has fun pictures. 4. The author encourages the child to keep a science journal. 5. The supplies can all be found on your weekly grocery or Target trip. I am looking forward to beginning our experiments. I really think my children will learn a lot through the hands on experiments and summarizing their findings in a journal.
