I am not familiar with this brand but so far I’m happy with this purchase The picture quality is not quite as good as my old Samsung but I think I might be able to do some adjusting in settings. The sound quality is actually a little better than my old TV. Time will tell as far as reliability but so far so good.

Monte L. Simpson: My new Sceptre 40" Class FHD (1080P) LED TV (X405BV-FSR) was delivered by FEDEX in about three days. The TV was well packaged for shipping and delivery. All of the parts necessary to set the tv up were in the box, including six screws to hold the feet in place. I connected my new TV to our Xfinity equipment and I had it set up within minutes. The most time consuming part was programming the Xfinity remote to work with the TV. I'm very pleased I chose the Sceptre 40" Class FHD (1080P) LED TV (X405BV-FSR). Up until now I had never heard of the brand, but it is excellent and works as well as my LG TV and the Visio TV it replaced. As noted by others the audio is not perfect, since I'm not an audiophile the TV's sound system is great for my purposes. . I looked at sound bars as others have mentioned and the drawback there is one must use the sound bar's remote to adjust the volume. I'll definitely consider a Sceptre for my next TV purchase.

Deborah: Ok, it doesn’t have any frills, but neither did the 18 year old TV I just threw out after it quit working. I wanted a 32” but they sold out before I had the money; not wanting to wait for the 32” to be re-stocked - since I now had no TV - I decided to get the 40”. My old TV was only 25”, not HD, not digital - yet it cost more 18 years ago than this 40” I just bought. I am amazed at the picture quality. It’s clear, clean and crisp. I had no reason to adjust the color - it was perfect the way it was. I was glad, after all, that I went with the 40”. It’s the perfect size for the room it’s in. I can’t speak enough about the picture quality - I have no streaks down the screen as others have described. I’m not worried - I bought the 4-yr extended warranty, and Amazon always stands behind what it sells, even if a 3rd-party seller is involved. The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because of the poor speaker-quality. Frankly, the sound sucks. It sounds very tinny, and the speakers are in back of the TV instead of in front, which begs the question, “WHY?” Again, I’m not worried. I’ll buy myself a sound bar for Christmas and that will solve that problem....

RoseRose: We received our purchase two (or was it three?) days after ordering. I believe the warehouse it resided in must have been in our state to do so, your experience may be different. Carefully and gingerly we pulled the television from the packaging to preserve its integrity just incase we needed to make a claim on the warranty for any defects. Well packaged and delivered we put it together, removed the previous tv and cleaned the space its to take. And take up space it does, it dwarfs the Sanyo that we used before this. Connected all the plugs and the antenna (I'll come back to this in a minute) turned it on and TaDa new television/pc monitor. We recently watched 'Clash of the Titans' on bluray and managed to get a breathtaking picture at 1080p 24Hz (make sure you've made all the necessary menu changes for this to occur). Compared to regular broadcast (whether it's 480i to 1080i) or normal DVDs and VHS (what's THAT?;) you'll wish ever disk, ever image was bluray. (I can't believe I'm saying this but it is so true) I despise having to squint at the screen to see small details, well I'll do that no longer. If it were these features alone to contemplate we would have given this Sceptre...

Design Studio: We got this as a cheap replacement, and yeah, that's all it is. The sound goes out all the time, we always have to re-configure it: EVERY DAY. LAME. The interface is lame, and I would get something better. PASS.
