Dean: I needed something to draw two sliding doors together on my shed and maybe keep the weather out a little better. Installed two on a 9' tall pair of doors and they looked like they're working--at least a bit. Also acting as extra security against prying from the outside.

Max R.: Latch holds secure. Used it for swingouts on my bumper. After washboard the latch does have a tendency to pop open. Not sure if I'm not getting the pressure right as I've tried many different ways. I build something else to secure the latches. For the price, can't beat it.

J: I welded these to the door of a custom built smoker that I made. They work perfectly for clamping the door shut so that it is air tight.

John Straube: This is a very solid, strong draw in latch with a great range of adjustability.
I would prefer the handle go "over center" a bit more, and used a hand grinder to have it do just that that. The price and performance really hard to beat. Totally happy.

Andrea J MacLeod: Got these to close the gap on my sliding door in my barn. They are adjustable, but I wish the latch had a bit more clearance to fold back further. If not adjusted properly they will pop open. After adjusting to it's limits it still needed about a quarter inch of clearance. I made a plate to go under it to make up for it.

matt: This is a heavy duty and very nice latch. The biggest issue I had is with the "locking" position. White it does set tight, the fulcrum position is dead center which not only allows this to pop open with minimal tension, it allows it to pop open if there's any movement... at all! I had to cut down the mount on the front side to allow the cross bar more room to seat. Once that was accomplished these seem to hold well. The manufacturer needs to make this design improvement since this is a pretty major flaw in the current design.

I would still recommend these to a friend.

I bought this latch-action toggle clamp to retrofit to the door on an upright freezer which was difficult to keep shut. The gasket would not compress evenly and this allowed air to get into the freezer, and in worst cases, thaw much of the food in the freezer before the leaky door was discovered.

After this happened several times over the past couple or so years I concluded that either the door problem had to be fixed or we should buy a new freezer.

I chose the Powertec 20306 Latch-action Toggle Clamp because I have worked with similar clamps in my design work as a mechanical engineer. I was particularly interested in the adjustability feature of the clamp mechanism which makes it easy to fit up the clamp, then compensate for any wear in the clamp as well as in the gaskets on the refrigerator door. The long reach of the clamp was also critical to me as the clamp had to reach from the main body of the freezer and across the thick gasket between the body and door, then engage with the catch portion fastened to the door.
