A. Reynolds: Lightweight whistle but it is a little high pitched. Easy to use for PE or such though.

The Crow: Blowing this at full strength is deafening. It will be heard. Two whistles were provided and I gave one to my sister and kept one. I put mine in my car for use in the event I went off the road and couldn't be seen from it. Also for hiking. It's easy to get injured and no one is around. Many situations where it will get you noticed.

R. P. Henerey: I wanted my 'hard of hearing' dog to at least be alerted that I wanted him to pay attention, hopefully to 'come'. Alas, too deaf beyond about 5 feet and he still hears loud claps so close. I use it to attract or distract other dogs. As for emergencies, I haven't needed to use it yet but it seems people can hear it at 100 yards.
