This vintage Syroco clock was in my wife’s family home for decades but had not worked properly for years. I searched for a similar clock that I might be able to swap the mechanism with. However, even used replacements for this brand are expensive and really didn’t have the right dimensions so the clock sat unused on a basement shelf until I found this quartz clock mechanism kit. After the old mechanism was removed, this new model fit perfectly into the rear hollow of the clock case. Unfortunately, the mounting holes in the original hands did not fit the hub on the new mechanism, but with four different styles of hour and minute hands in the kit, I found a pair that fit and are virtually the same as the original. I received my order today and put installed it in my clock. The needles are a little are very tight on the shaft but I just used my fingertips on either side to push them down close to the pin and all went well. Only hard part I had was actually putting the battery in but after a bit of coaxing it clipped in. All works fine. This one is absolutely silent with no ticking sound. I rather miss the sound though but on the whole, its perfect.

I have to admit that when I received the product, I was really skeptical about whether or not it would work. The hands felt really flimsy and I was worried that I would break them while trying to attach them. I thought about using the original hands that came with the motor that broke, but that had 3 hands, and they felt sturdier, so I thought it might affect the accuracy of the clock over time (no pun intended). I finally managed to get the hands on the motor and attached to the clock, and I have had no issues with it, nor its accuracy.

All of these movements are kind of flimsy, so you have to be careful not to overtighten the mounting nut.
And, in general, all the manufacturers of these battery mechanisms seem to have a high failure rate after a few months.

Works great. Had an old clock that was keepsake were the motor went out. Perfect replacement . Lots of hands also. This would be great for someone making a homemade clock as well. For the price it was a great deal. All the parts you need are included.

When buying a kit like this you need to order the correct measurements. The first is the length of the hands - measure the clock face that you will be installing it in so the hands match the size, the most important is the minute and if there's a second hand the should be close to the numerals. Second is the thickness of the face - short or long insert. The third doesn't always matter but check the width of the hole and movement that you are installing. Once you have the correct kit it's very easy and lots of fun when you don't have to alter the housing that you are using.

The clock mechanism works well as a replacement for our kitchen clock. Plenty of hands to choose from. I knocked it down 1 star because the stem was longer than expected. It stuck out to far from the clock face. I used the lock nut from the original mechanism screwed on about halfway to set the mechanism back about 1/4” which allowed the space between the face and the glass for the hands to move.
