Having used ProLink Gold Chain Lube for years now, I can confidently say that it is a solid choice for cyclists looking for a high-quality chain lubricant. This particular lube stands out for its loose consistency, which offers some unique advantages.
Unlike thicker lubes, this product penetrates deep into the chain links, ensuring effective coverage and lubrication. The loose consistency allows the lube to reach even the tightest spaces, reducing friction and ensuring smooth operation. This feature is particularly beneficial for cyclists who frequently ride in dusty or dirty conditions, as it helps prevent the accumulation of grit and debris on the chain.
One thing to keep in mind is that ProLink Gold Chain Lube requires more frequent reapplication compared to thicker lubes. While it may need to be reapplied every 200-300 miles, this is a minor inconvenience considering the benefits it provides. The loose consistency allows the lube to effectively work its way into the chain, but it also means that it may not last as long as thicker alternatives. However, the ease of reapplication makes it a simple task, and the resulting smooth and quiet...

D. Richardson:
I'm not one of those people who rate a product poorly because the shipping was bad. Amazon put this bottle in a USPS envelope. There was no padding or protection around the bottle and the top wasn't secured with tape. At least put the bottle in a ziploc so when it leaks the stuff won't go everywhere. It only leaked a little, but it smells like terrible. (If you've used it, you know how it smells. Kerosene, maybe?)
Short story: this stuff works well for me. I have to maintain 6 bikes that are ridden often in the mud and on wet roads.
Long story: I like this stuff as chain lube. I live where it rains 8+ months out of the year. I get road grime and mud in the winter. The road is good in the Summer but i get dust on when trail riding. I have two bikes, and I take care the bikes for my wife and kids. That's a lot of bikes. Between the weather and all the bikes I don't want to be removing chains every 200 miles or going through other tedious maintenance. I use Progold often and generously and wipe the chains off after I apply it. I'm not getting all the grit out when my bike is covered in mud. My take is a new chain is ~$20. I'd rather replace it every...

S. Kozlowski:
I've been using Prolink Progold for about five years and it's the best lube I've ever used. One of its main advantages is that Prolink is actually a solvent and a lube in one and hence, if you do have any grime built up in your drivetrain, Prolink will remove it as it lubricates.
The key to using Prolink properly is to allow it to fully dry before riding. If you don't, Prolink will turn your drivetrain black but it lubricates despite this color change. If you want to keep your drivetrain with that freshly cleaned, bare-metal look longer, follow the instructions below.
Twice a year, I give my chain this full metal jacket treatment.
1) Remove the chain from the bike.
2) Bathe in odorless mineral spirits for about two hours.
3) Remove the chain, wipe clean and allow to dry for 2-3 hours.
4) Bathe the chain in Prolink overnight.
5) Clean the remainder of my drivetrain with a degreaser
6) Remove the chain the next morning, wipe and allow it to dry for a full day.
7) Put chain back on the bike.
Every 70-100 dry miles, I apply Prolink to my chain, one drop per link, wipe with a cloth and allow to dry fully overnight. If I...

DAN: I have been using this oil for months prior on my mountain bikes and apply it regularly between rides. It goes on easily, it's easy to wipe off the excess with a rag after lubricating the entire chain, It doesnt feel sticky, attract extra dust/dirt and with regular use I find that it keeps my shifting smooth, without skipping or jumping. I now have plenty of this to last at least a year after purchasing the larger bottle. This is my go to bike chain lube and don't need to look further.
