BISCUIT: Nicely made, but notice the size, 1/2 dram is maybe smaller than you might relise

Amy Neidlinger: I got these vials for insect collecting, and have purchased multiple sets of these. These vials serve their purpose, and do not leak.

HoMiPaHoMiPa: I originally selected these vials because they had the plastic cone insert in the lid, which helps to ensure liquids don't leak. However, I see the listing now does not show that. But you can see photos in other reviews of the cone insert inside the lid. Apparently they have changed over the item.
I would much prefer the lids with the plastic cone insert, as my purpose for ordering these was to store fountain pen & calligraphy pen inks for travel.
However, I tried them out over the weekend, and so far, no spillage, although I have tried my best to keep the case containing these vials upright. I store the vials in a plastic ziplock bag, which is then stored in an upright position in a pocket of the case.
I was concerned the opening of the bottles wouldn't be large enough for dipping my pen nib into the ink, but it was large enough and worked just fine. I would still feel more confident about these bottles not leaking if they had the previous type lids with the plastic cone insert. I will however, order another couple of sets of these, so that I can take an even wider variety of inks with me when traveling.

trf: The actual outer diameter of the glass part of the vial is .585 inch + or - .005 (or so) or 14.87mm. The height of the glass vial without the cap is 1 inch and with the cap (screwed on tight) it's about 1.112 inch (28.26mm). The actual opening (based on a sampling) in the top of the bottle is .310 inch to .315 inch. This is about 7.88mm. I bought these to hold clock bushings. To make a holder that would hold and organize several bottles, I drilled through a 1/2 inch piece of plywood with a 5/8 forstner bit and the glass vials fit the holes pretty good. There is some play but since there is 1/2 inch of support, the bottle is very stable and getting it in and out of the hole is easy. Including the cap, .630 inch or 16mm (these are rounded and approximate) protrudes from the top of the hole. The cap is a bit larger in diameter than the bottle, and it is larger than the 5/8th hole as well, so if you pick up the entire tray, the bottles will not fall through. A few of my larger outer diameter bushings could not be accommodated in these vials, because the top opening was too small, but that's OK and it has nothing to do with the product. If these things are the size you need-buy them. I...

gary w.: I like the price for the product and the fact it was glass with a good fitting cap. One could store liquid besides smaller solid objects. I’m also going to use them for gold I prospect.
