With the help of the Property Brothers, you can make sure your dream home is exactly what you want it to be. Get ready to find and fix your perfect house with this comprehensive guide!Marina C.: I like it, very good quality materials, very good quality pictures and I really like the hardcover. The two downside points are: the pictures, when using more than one page, are not perfectly centred, some of the picture is lost in the "middle" of the book, which i was not expecting, with such great other finishes. And most of the pictures are from the TV shows, i recognized easily over 70% of the pictures from the episodes I have seen (or maybe i am just a BIG fan - don't know, but i recognised easily most of pictures)

Karolyn S: I’m a fan of the Property Brothers, and with our plans to move within the next five years, I decided to buy their book. I wasn’t disappointed. The book is well organized and easy to read with their conversational way of writing. I found myself laughing out loud when reading stories of their childhood. They include photos of their projects to give inspiration in what I feel is the hardest part of selling a home…staging. The brothers also give many tips about using color, texture and furnishings to improve design.
The book is loaded with information in all the areas of buying, renovating and selling your home in order to get the best value. The target audience is the layman with little or no experience in buying and selling a home (that’s me). When they use a term that you may not know, they define it for you. They not only share their knowledge, they share their mistakes which is one of the biggest benefits of the book. What this book has done for me is give me a plan to follow over the next couple of years, and I know I’m going to refer to it often during this process. They’ve added an index to make that easy.
The more I learn about Jonathan and Drew, the...

N. Broad: If you've watched their shows, you'll know about the brothers, but if you haven't you'd still enjoy this book. Full of helpful advice about whether or not to move house, how to use space well and create ambiance when selling your home, how to do up your home and when to leave it to the professionals. Interesting chapter on the brothers and how they started up in the business of buying, fixing up and selling on, they come across as genuinely nice guys who work hard and enjoy what they do.

Dr. Tim Parker: I heard an interview with the two brothers on satellite radio, and with curiosity piqued, ordered their book. It's surprisingly good! The book is written in a friendly tone, with lots of practical advice scattered throughout. There's a lot of pictures, which are excellent, showing various design ideas. There's sections in the book on buying, remodelling, and selling a home, with the logic for each well laid out. There's advice on contracting and how to better manage any renovations you have going on.
There's very little jargon in the book, which is nice. You can read sections as your interest is triggered, and not lose track of any flow to the book. While I wasn't expecting to get too much out of reading the book, I was surprised that I both enjoyed reading through, learned quite a bit, and got some good ideas for remodelling. The sections on kitchens and bathrooms are solid, and the discussion on return on investment for remodelling is good. Overall, enjoyable and interesting to read through, with some great ideas on both managing your property as well as some clever design ideas. Something for everyone, perhaps!

karen in milford: This is a very comprehensive but accessible resource guide to buying, selling, and redoing residential property. Two of my favorite features are "Brother vs Brother" (where Jonathan and Drew discuss a topic from their individual points to view) and "Realty Check" (where they offer real estate and renovation tips). The buying and selling chapters are very information and includes helpful specifics on what to invest in your home when reading it to sell, and what to look for in a house you want to buy. The sections on remodel no-nos and remodeling myths are also worth the cover price. The chapter, The Pros Have It, is also extremely useful in that it tells you who does what on a construction site, what you can try tackling on your own, and what you should NEVER attempt unless you are a pro. I like the brothers' humor and candid voice as well - this helps make some of the more technical information easily digestible and not overwhelming. The photos of their projects are fabulous. Sometimes the programs give you such a brief glance at the rooms that you can't really examine the details - this book lets you do that. Even the brothers' decor advice is sound and helpful - they have great...

Elda Minger, author of the historical romance Velvet Fire: This book is simply outstanding and will save you a ton of money and frustration. I bought it for my own home, in order to fix it up. The mark of a great how-to book is that it answers questions you didn't even know you had.
Jonathan and Drew guide you through buying, selling, and renovating houses. When you finish this book, you'll know more than most people about how to take a piece of property and make it your own. And they make it fun! Their personalities and individual voices shine through.
Thank you, Jonathan and Drew. You have given me the knowledge I need and have taken away my fear. Before I read this book, I literally didn't know where to start and was paralyzed with fear. The title really says it all -- my dream home is in sight! I've never seen your TV show, but I'm going to start watching. And I loved reading about the solid values and work ethic your parents gave you. What a wonderful family you have and how proud they must be of both of you.
Buy this book. This is a non-think purchase if you're doing anything to your home. There is so much solid information packed within its pages. You won't regret spending time with the Scott brothers.

Amazon Customer: I had expected a book with some pretty pictures and bits of useful info but the sample seemed funny so I bought it for my Kindle. I'm glad it was so much more than I had imagined, this book is everything I could've hoped for. I also wish I had it before I had bought (and sold) the co-op from hell. Might've saved me a lot of grief. The chapters are very well broken down and even if you're not selling it's a good chapter to read as a buyer too. The budget breakdown and trades needed for renovations is great. I realized I'm going to have to budget differently from what I had anticipated. The different types of materials (i.e. floors, counters, etc) is also food for thought.
Even though it's serious subject matter it's written very funny and in an easy to understand way. I'm enjoying it on my Kindle even though the pictures are in grayscale. I'll have to check them out in color on my computer.

MONichols: I wish I had this book available to me before I moved 5 months ago. First, the Scott Brothers discuss how they got to where they are, from working on the family ranch through college and going their separate ways, then ending up doing a TV show together. Then, in clear laymans terms they go on to spell out how to decide whether to sell your home or stay put, things to think about when deciding to stay and remodel or buy a fixer upper. They include getting the old house ready for market (and this area is where I think I could have used this advice), to get top dollar, and then into what to look for in your own Dream Home and how to make it happen if it's not there now. They cover the construction trades, who does what, this book is a MUST for anyone planning to buy their first home, change homes, or just looking for remodeling ideas. It will make a lovely wedding shower gift to any newlyweds considering their first home.

T. Smith: A star off only for the not entirely defendable reason that some of what they suggest doesn't quite translate to the UK property world (it's so fascinating to see how easy taking an internal wall is in these US homes. You just grab a sledgehammer and start punching holes through the drywall!) However it's 5 stars for everything else. Quartz countertops - check! My kind of guys
