Amazon Customer: We have not had deep enough flood water for it to work well on the floor but we have used shop vac to suck up flood water then used this pump to empty the shop vac through the basement window.

Gary: Excellent for pumping water. Not for muddy. or silty sludge. Can be used in shallow areas as long as the impeller is submerged. Robust housing. Excellent product for the money. You get what you pay for.

Laura Tracey-Coll: This was the best pump I ever used. An excellent product. It powered along all night, saving us from mild to moderate flooding. (we can get about 6 inched of water)
I use the bigger sump pump flexible hoses. I needed a to pump UP an incline of about ten feet out of the basement. I used a large coated flexible wire to the railing to hold the hose up and out the door and down the driveway away from the house. (The hose got heavy when full and slipped down the steps)
The pump even worked in 1" of water (cleanish water, some paint chips in it) and it doesn't tip over. If you get intensive flooding over 1", you may need a larger pump.
I practices setting this guy up, by pumping my pool water.
You'll need a good extension cord too.
I also have a electric generator just in case the electric goes out. (Watch your electric outlets and connections, they should be high in a basement. Know how to shut them off.)
It also pumped out our wet shop vac when they filled up, very quickly. We just submersed it right in the vac's tank.
I just bought another one for back up and in case we get heavy flooding or burn the first one out. I'm now looking into a...

Miss Baker: We have an old Simer pump that has worked wonderfully for years. It's silt screen fell off and the pump clogged. So I ordered this. Both the Amazon box and the Simer box were not damaged. But when my husband unpacked the inner box a plastic phalange around the electrical cord had snapped off the pump. The broken bit was in the bottom of the box. Both the phalange and the hose connector are the same brittle plastic. Too bad because the rest of the pump is sturdy. We tend to be pretty rough pumping out our basement, pool and bilge. So brittle plastic is a problem.

Amazon Customer: We bought this after we had a flood in our basement and the company who did the clean up used this same one to drain the water out. Just attach a garden hose it, we ran the hose out the basement door or window and turn it on, it works fantastic and got rid of all the water. We found it on amazon and bought our own to have in case we ever had another flood. So far, we haven't had to use it, but it was a great price, it's easy to use and we are now prepared if we ever need it. It's definitely cheaper to have it on hand rather than to have to call someone to come in and do it for us, we can do it ourselves. Highly recommend.

Amazon Customer: This guy is ideal to drain temporary outdoor pools or to greatly speed up garden watering with your rain collection barrel; I guess it might also be suitable for getting rid of accidental basement floods but thank God I haven't been able to test that use. It connects directly to a garden hose and just does the job. Less one star because it requires supervision at pump site to make sure it doesn't topple and its connected hose doesn't kink, and it features no switch so it must be turned off either by pulling the plug or (as I'm doing) by the switch in the outdoor cord, but hey, for the price it looks like it will outlast all my inflatable pools.

Barbdb: This pump was used to empty our hot tub. I didn't want to use our pool pump because it is used for emptying the water off the liner in the spring, and gets quite dirty with mud and leaves. this pump emptied the hot tub in less than an hour, and was simple to operate. A longer cord would be nice, but we just used a long extension cord with no problem. I would recommend this pump.

Tina: Great product, but a little mis-leading on how low it can drain. The Simmer literature shows it clearing flat roofs at construction sites, but I can't imagine it would work that well. Instructions say it needs to be in 2 inches deep of water, and the pump starts pumping some air when it gets down to the last 1/2-3/4 inch which probably isn't good for the pump.
I was going to use this product to clear a flat roof, which would be similar to someone wanting to clear a basement, or have a backup pump for low spots. I would NOT recommend this if you are relying on keeping water at the lowest level possible (as it will leave 3/8 or more of water). I compared this to a Coleman 17-msp which is a 1/6 HP pump. A smaller pump, but actually is rated to pump the same gallons per hour. The Coleman pump not only cleared down to the last 1/4 inch, if I remove the screen it would go lower. The instructions also say to submerge in 3/4 inches of water vs. the Simmer pump which states 2 inches.
ALSO - If you are looking at pumps to clear flooded spaces (not pools) 1/6 or 1/4 horsepower is MORE THAN ENOUGH. Its almost too much power for draining a low spot on a flat roof because it will...
