Kindle Customer: When Reacher says he is going to do it, you can always count on him to come through. This is another example of how Reacher will do things his way. If he doesn’t talk to you about changing your plans, then he has other ways to make changes to happen. You got to love Reacher.

Kapil: The media could not be loaded.  I love the Reacher series. But the book was a bit damaged.

Jt: Lots of twists and turns in the plot that keeps the reader guessing, action that takes place in the past and present that culminates in a satisfying resolution. Supporting characters are nicely developed and Reacher seems more invested on a different level with the outcome in the choices he makes. One of the best Reacher books, in my opinion. While I generally like the Reacher character, I've found a number of story lines hit or miss; formalistic rather than original. In this, Reacher comes off as more human and connected, but still with the invincibility that makes him what he is. Wish they were all this good!

Perry: If you have never read a “Jack Reacher” thriller this is as good as any to start with a tough uncompromising hero wrapped up into a thriller worthy of the genre you will be hooked by the end of the first chapter, for those of us who know and like lee child’s hero this on par with the rest.

MalcMcD: The Jack Reacher series are un-put-downable. I find that I get to the end quicker than any other book I read.

R. Loe: Lee Child can weave an interesting tale about Jack Reacher but may drive readers who are familiar with proper sentence structure and use of punctuation to the brink. I know that’s the case for me. I purchased the entire Jack Reacher series of books after seeing the first season of the series. I never would have read so many of his books if I hadn’t already paid for them.
I have often wondered why, with all the money that Lee Child must have brought in from his writing, he can’t seem to afford a staff who will proofread and correct the many mistakes throughout his books. Same goes for his publisher.
I held onto hope with each successive book that he might learn something about writing and make his books easier to read. I hoped, with the addition of his brother on the last couple, that the books would improve but seemed to get only worse. Sometimes, 2 whole pages of back-and-forth banter are written with nothing to occasionally let you know who is speaking, so multiple readings may be needed at times to sort it out. I think almost all, if not all, of the pages have sentences with commas where none are needed, periods where commas are needed, clauses used as sentences,...

J. C. Duff: It is a testament to Lee Child's skill that despite this not being one of Reacher's best adventures, I still couldn't put the book down and finished it within 2 days.

The novel's opening gambit, a hook upon which the rest of the novel hangs is unfortunately quite flimsy. Not to give too much away, but in order to get the ball rolling Child has Reacher act in a way that will have regular readers scratching their heads; an action which is so out of character, the reader assumes it will be explained in some clever plot twist later on. But it isn't, and as such is an unusually weak opening.

Once over this little hiccup however, the novel trundles along nicely leading to a customarily understated finale. Other reviews have pointed to this being one of the more violent of Reacher's novels. I have to say I thought it was pretty tame compared to say, 'Persuader' or 'Without Fail', but no less powerful for that. Other reviews have also noted Child's now formulaic style as becoming stale. Again, I have to say this may have been true leading up to this novel, 'One Shot' for instance was disappointing in its format and predictable pace, but I found the Hard Way refreshingly...
