Amazon Customer: My kids love this book and I like the fact that it is broken down into 12 months (as can help focus the kids when they are choosing!)
Obviously it is based on American tastes but been easy enough to recreate without having to seek out specialist ingredients

Jeremiah Johnson: One of my new favorite cookbooks. I love that these are fun and easy for kids but also really actually delicious. I have made plenty of the recipes on my own as well. I really like that the book is organized by month so you can always pick something on theme. And there's a ton of recipes you could use anytime as well. Also, a whole birthday section in the back. Everything feels very unique and imaginative. The instructions are very informative and teach young chefs handy how-to's and the "why's" behind kitchen skills.

A disappointed Milk Bar fan: First, I’m a big fan of Christina Tosi and Milk Bar but NOT this cookbook. Why? Because:
1. It’s not geared toward children.
2. Recipes are duplicated withIn.
3. Seems like it was rushed to press- failure to do thorough testing?
1. The biggest issue is that it’s not geared toward children.
A children’s cookbook requires more than not requiring the use of mixers. The instructions need to be written in a way for children to follow and understand. You can’t just abbreviate instructions and call it a kids book!
A. Instructions to be stated BEFORE the step is completed. For example, one of the instructions says to add dry to butter mixture. Then it says refrigerate if butter mixture is very glossy or separating. While I the preread the recipe I didn’t say “okay x we need to watch for glossy separating butter.”
B. Tosi uses call outs to convey essential information, but many kids don’t read call outs.
C. There’s no 9 year old who can mix cupcake batter with a spoon for two minutes to make it fluffy. Even my favorite 9 year old got out the little mixer on his own!
D. The references (movies, etc) in the book are not at all geared...

Juliet: I bought this for my granddaughter for Christmas, but I am seriously considering a second copy for myself. I have never seen a cookbook so full of new, creative, DELICIOUS sounding recipes. Most are the standard, typical dessert recipes with a few new ideas sprinkled through - boring. This is hands down the most exciting, innovative cookbook I have ever purchased....sweet or savory. I cannot wait to bake!!!
*full disclosure, I have just as intense of a sweet tooth as Christina...and I mean intense.

Frita Bandita: Admittedly, I had seen this cookbook pop up a few times in my recommendations but ignored it because it said "Kids Only." Being a huge Milk Bar fan but also not having the patience, mental fortitude, or crazy ingredients on hand all the time to make the original Milk Bar recipes, I caved and took a look at this. My thought was that "well, if it's for kids, it can't possibly be as complicated as the other cookbook so let's check it out."
I'm glad I did. The recipes are unique, fun, but for the most part, pretty straightforward with a lot of ingredients you probably already have in the cupboard. There are little teaching/learning tips all throughout that even for adults might make you go "a-ha!" It's very much like the other Milk Bar cookbook in terms of explaining why certain ingredients are used (milk powder!) but also has some fun spins on classics (there's a few different versions that aren't your typical rice crispy treat, for sure!). One thing I found handy was how to (easily) make all sorts of different flavors of icing with essentially the same base recipe. Not something I ever really put much thought into but when I saw this, all i could say was...

SDS: Bought this for my 12-year-old granddaughter. I tried out several recipes and loved the clarity of directions and the quality of the recipes.
Actually made one to go along with the book for her and her grandparents to enjoy. They loved it and my husband asked me to save the recipe to remake for us.
Had a hard time locating this book on Amazon as it did not pop up in cookbooks for kids, by the way.
